Question:
has anyone had conversion to a long-limb bypass?

my pouch is 75cc and doc says this is fine...just wants to convert me to a long-limb...what does this meam? I am very concerned about diarrhea. I would appreciate any comments that anyone has....thanks, Sandy    — Sandra I. (posted on May 4, 2002)

HOW long a limb? Diarrhea is not usually an expected problem until you get up over 300cm bypassed, and I rather doubt he will go that far.

Hi. I had a long-limbed by-pass (5 weeks ago) and I have had no trouble with diarrhea. Actually, for the first time, I had to take Milk of Magnessia because I was a little constipated. ( My Dr. says this is normal in the first couple months while your body adjusts.) My by-pass was 150cm. Ask your Dr. just how much he wants to by-pass. Share your concerns with him. This was also one of my biggest concerns and my Dr. was very patient in explaining it all to me. Good Luck and God Bless.
