Question:
Thank goodness we can ask question anonymously, I have not seen

this question before and I know it may sound silly but here goes. My pubic hair is very thin. I think this is due inpart to my "apron" lying on it. Once my weight is off and plastic surgery done, will this hair grow back? If not can hair restorer productssuch as Rogaine be applied there?    — [Anonymous] (posted on May 11, 2001)

The bad news is once it is gone, it's gone! I really don't know if hair restoring products will help this situation, but I kinda doubt it. Hey, we can't have everything, right? Anyway, I hear that in some circles it is in vogue to have this area clean and hair free....go figure!~

Thank you for asking this question. I wonder too.. I have thought though my hair was so thin because my pubic area is rather fat.. if I were thinner it would be less large and hopefully appear thicker? I imagine it could be in part due to the apron as well. I'll be looking for answers on this as well.

I couldn't give a rip about the sparse hair...but it bothers me greatly to look like a handbag in that area. The only solution? Plastic surgery...

Some circles? LOL I, for one, would love to get rid of all body hair except on my head! I have two scars across my abdomen from two seperate surgeries, and the scars made the pubic area pouf out more than normal. Add fat to that and, well, it's not a pretty site........! And the hair is very thin.

I was sparsely haired my entire life in the pubic area, and after a surgery some years ago decided to keep the area shaved. I thought it looked better bare than with the straggly hair! I have noticed with 90 lbs. of weight loss the area is NOT bouncing back - who knew you carried so much fat there!!? It looked okay when everything was fat, but now it does look a bit odd with the extra skin and mushy flesh. Thankfully, I don't spend much time (hmmm - actually, any time) nude around other people, so it has not been a dreadful problem (and my husband has no problem with it at all :)) - Kate -

I'm pre-op, but I would like to share some info a post-op in my support group shared with me. She had just had a tummy tuck and she said the pubic area was "pulled" into shape at that time, so now it looks normal again. It's been so long since I could actually see mine, I forget what "normal" is!!!!!!!! :-)

I used to have thick pubic hair, but by the time I had my surgery (age 54) it had become very sparse -- I thought that was another side-effect of menopause. I just noticed this morning (7 months post op) that I'm really hairy again! Maybe because the pubic skin shrank as I lost the fat underneath? Or maybe it's all the vitamins and minerals and protein I take. The hair on my head has thickened up, too, and my fingernails have never been stronger. Who knows? At any rate, I suppose this could happen to you, too.

The hair looks sparse because more than likely you have a lot of fat deposited there. I'm in the same boat and it appears others are too. I was hoping when I had my surgery that things would bounce back down there and my hair would also appear fuller. Sorry to say neither has happened. It bothers me but the only person who sees it besides me is DH and he's never said anything negative. If I can ever afford a tummy tuck I'm going to make sure that they pull this area up, lipo it or do whatever it takes to make it look normal!

Please don't think that I am being sarcastic but....I can't imagine why anyone would "want" more hair in the pubic area. I go to great lengths to shave that area. As a matter of fact, like someone said, if the only hair I had was on my head, I would be a happy camper! As for the pubic area reducing, it certainly did for me. The labia reduced so much that it's actually a problem for the clitoris because it's now exposed somewhat. (Geez I hope this goes through anonymously!) but, these are the questions that everyone wants the answer to but feel too weird to ask. Good for you....ask away because the more preops and new postops know, the better.
