Question:
Has Anyone had problems with blisters on their rear end after laying in the bari bed?

I had surgery on the Jan 10th with no complications...YEAH! MY only problem is that from trying to scoot around in the bed to get comfy I developed blisters on my rear from the rough blanket they had on the bed. It has been more painful than the surgery itself. Any suggestions would be appreciated...Thanks in advance!    — toni D. (posted on January 19, 2002)

I didn't get blisters but the Bari-Bed was the most uncomfortable thing I ever slept on.Also when I put the foot of the bed down I was sure I was going to go flying right out onto the floor !! I wonder who designed them, and if they ever actually slept on one.

It may be the harsh detergents used by the hospital along w/ friction that caused your blisters. You may want to try neosporin on the blisters along with an antibacterial soap to clean the blisters along with a lot of air(no panties and house dresses around the house). It won't stop the pain but will help to clear them up faster.

I hope I'm not to late in answering your question! I had some severe blisters from laying on the bed. I went to the ICU for 3 days, and they didn't get me out of bed until day 3, which was the cause of my blisters. They put some things on them in the hospital, they were like a big bandaid, really sticky. However, by the time I got home, they had curled up and were pulling hair in places I never thought I had hair! My mom had to cut as much off of me as possible (humiliation at it's best) and then the others eventually fell off. I just put neosporin on them, and they eventually scabbed over and are completely healed now. It took about 3-5 weeks for them to be gone. Sorry about the details given here, but wanted to let you know you aren't alone!

Oh my goodness...finally, someone who knows what I went thru. I developed severe blisters all over my buttocks by the 2nd post op day and NO ONE would listen to me at the hospital. When I went home 4 days later, I had to call my dermatologist and he ordered the VNA to come out every day to do the dressings. They were horrified at how bad I was and that no one made any discharge plans for treating those blisters. I was in agony and was very sick from them. Of course, my surgeon knew 'nothing" about them...why would he...I never saw him post op, just his "interns" who were of no help either. If I hadn't had the blisters, I'd have felt teriffic.
