01/08/03 - Boy how time flies! In 2 days it will be one year since my surgery. And I would do this again in a heartbeat. I came through the surgery with almost no complications. About 5 weeks out I went back to the hospital for 4 days with a partial bowel obstruction. They really didn't do anything but let it pass and sent me home. Other than that I have been complication free. I did have a few food problems but nothing unusal.I was unable to keep down broiled meat like chicken for about 5 months but now I can eat pretty much anything, just smaller portions. I have chosen to stay away from sugars(except for twice, and unfortunatly it didn't make me dump) and fried foods. One of the best things about this surgery are all of the wonderfull friends I have met. I have been apart of some great support groups. And I have to thank all of the people here on this site for all of the information. When I started out researching surgery this site was where I got most of my information. From finding my surgeron to helpful postop tips. Thanks Eric for creating a place that feels safe to come to, where we can share our experiences and frienships. I would also like to thank the people from WOWSALSA and UCD support groups. To Pam, Lori, Kathy C, Bobbi You guys are the BEST! Well on to new adventures in 2003....Thanks again!
