Hi I started at 263, I'm 5'7.5".My BMI was 40. I was considered a "lightweight" (that always cracks me up, because I felt anything but light weight).I had Lap RNY 4-21-03 and I have lost 75 lbs in 5 mo. and now weigh 188. I figure if I can lose 3/4 of my weight in 5 mo., surely I can lose the other 1/4 in the 7 mo. left before my 1 yr. anniversary.

Hi, I started at 238, 5'4 and had surgery on 6/12/03. I'm down 50 pounds in 4 months. Seems very slow to me. I get in my protein, water and take my supplements. I probably don't get enough exercise but I still would have thought I would lose more than a pound a week (if I'm lucky these days) when I'm eating less than 1000 calories a day (and who knows what we absorb). According to fitday.com, my body is burning considerably more than that (2500 a day for basal and sedentary job)just to function. Oh well, I guess I'm just getting frustrated. I'm still very happy with my loss, but of course I had secretly hoped for more.

I started with a BMI of 41.6. Weight 250 & height 5'5". I am now 14 weeks out & have lost 71 pounds. I started post op walking 5-6 days a week & now I walk 3 days & go to the gym 3 days a week. My dietician says that the exercise makes alot of difference. Also sticking with the diet plan they give you. I'm hoping to reach goal weight of 130 at about 8 months post op.

I was 248 pounds at 5'7" on the date of my surgery. I was 255 at my consult 2 months before that. I am now 150 and would love to lose another 5 pounds. I am fairly sure though, that this may take a very long time if it ever happens. I had surgery just about 8 months ago. Check my profile to see the rate of my weight loss. Good luck!!!

I started at 5'2 and 248 pounds. I lost 100 pounds by about 8 months post-op. Granted, I worked out like a demon 5 days a week and I truly believe that's what helped me lose so quickly. I had lost 125 pounds by 10 months which put me at goal.

I started at 264 and 5'6" tall. My surgery was 2-10-03 and I have lost 102 pounds. I lost 100 at 7.5 months. I went from a size 22/24 to a size 10. I have about 20 more to go and Im done. Good luck to you.

I am 5'7" and had surgery on 1/31/03 with a starting weight of 274. In the first 6 months I lost 96 pounds. And in months 6-8 I have lost another 21 pounds...for a total of 117 pounds in 8 months. I still (ideally) would like to lose another 20-30 pounds, but things seem to really be slowing down these days. So, if you really work the 'plan', I would say 100 pounds in 10 months would be a reasonable goal. Good luck!

I also had my surgery 2-10-03 and previously weighed 282 at 5'8. I now weigh 183 and have another 30 pounds to go. I went from a size 26 to a size 14 already. I expect to be at goal before 10 months. Good luck!

I'm 4 years out. Started at 260 and had lost 100 pounds at about 8 months postop. Here's a funny thing: I started out at 5' 6.5" tall and am now 5'8"!! My surgeon thinks my spine was compressed by arthritis, which is pretty much all gone now. hugs, Ann RNY 9/10/99 260/124
