take your daily diet to a nutritionist and evaluate to make sure your calories aren't to high.. increase your water and exercise.. if all else fails.. i little time will help I'm sure.

I HAVE GONE ON SOME PATEAUS. WHEN I WAS ABOUT SAME LENGTH OF TIME AS YOU I WENT ON A 6 WEEK ONE. NO GAIN, BUT DID NOT LOSE AN OZ. I WAS TOLD TO UP MY PROTEIN. SO I DID AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED COMING OFF AGAIN. IT TAKES ABOUT 2 WEEKS OF UPPING THE PROTEIN. SMILES GRACIE

You don't say how long you've been on this plateau, but since you're only 7 1/2 weeks out, it can't be too very long. It has been my experience - with other weight loss plans as well as post-op RNY - that "this too shall pass." I, too, am at a plateau 4 1/2 months from my WLS. I've lost an amazing 82 lbs in 4 1/2 months, but there have been times when I didn't see the scales budge for 1 or 2 weeks at a time. Then I would drop 5 or 7 lbs in a week's time. My current plateau is going on the second week. But I KNOW that if I just stay the course, all will be okay. After all, what choice do I have? Surgery was the option of last resort for me and I'm serious about my life-style change. I am confident that if I keep doing what I'm supposed to - eat protein first, little of anything else second, drink lots of WATER third, walk or exercise daily fourth - my body will continue to adjust by losing weight and becoming stronger and healthier. So, let's both keep being good to ourselves and let our bodies catch up when they can - and they will, I'm sure of it! Lots of luck, Lili.

I was wondering the same thing...I too am plateauing at 8 weeks post-op. I lost 22 lbs in the first 4 weeks..and only 11 lbs in the second month. I am eating what I was told to eat..and drinking as much as I possibly can. As far as Protein..my doctor doesn't want his patients getting their protein from drinks or bars...he recommends getting as much as you can through foods that we eat. I've tried very hard to eat anything and everything high in protein..and of course it's always the first thing I take in. As far as exercise..I'm still having a slight problem...my energy level is still so low...can't seem to muster up enough energy to do much...and very tired all the time. I am taking vitamins regularly...and I do feel a little better...but not sure what to do to get past the plateau??? Anyone else feel this way? And what did you do as far as exercise with so little energy?? I go back to see my doctor tomorrow..and I'm really upset that in my second month I've lost so little...almost feel ashamed to go in....*sigh* Anyone with suggestions or comments please help..I'm at a loss.

I wish "Anonymous" had not posted anonymously because I would like to reply personally. My weight loss experience has been nearly identical, and I WAS feeling really bad about it too. But you know what? WLS is working ... my clothes are hanging on me now, so much so that my wardrobe is becoming more and more limited. The weight is inching downward, and I'm happy with my decision, even though I'm frustrated at times. I want to echo Barb's comment about eating too few calories -- I was, at 500-600 per day. I've increased the caloric intake to around 800, and the scale has started moving again. I'll also say that my doctor does NOT recommend protein supps, but I have found through trial and error and research, research, research, that I need the extra pre-digested protein you can only get through supplementing, so I do that too. Patience, please .... we are all works in progress!

Hi Leigh...that was me posting anonymously..by mistake..*S* I have been eating alot better..and like I said..drinking quite a bit of water..it's really the exercise issue...I really don't know what to do about feeling so lifeless all the time. I do have a stationary bike that I'm working on at least 2 times a day...but is there anything else that I can do to help with losing the weight..especially with so little energy? Oh..and sorry about that anonymous posting...*S* Anyone who can help please feel free to email me at [email protected]
