Question:
I enjoy yogurt but worry about sugar, are there any brands low in sugar?

I find sugar to be too high in yogurts, but want to eat it badly. What kinds do you eat and how high is too high for sugar each meal?    — Audrey B. (posted on March 27, 2003)

I try to limit to single digit per meal. The source of the suagr doesn't matgtter to me. Natural sugar made me fat, too, caused me some regain. The lowest yogurt I found was yoplait Light, but even so, it's double digits. I've heard Blue Bunny is more like 5g, smaller container, but we don't have that brand near me. :-(

Blue Bunny Brand yougurt is wonderful! It's sweetened with Splenda. There whole line of sugar-free products are wonderful. They are hard to find, mostly sold by Super-Walmarts. Good Luck!

I have found that Dannon makes a great yogurt - 0%fat, and sugar is in the single digits - can't remember off hand - but it is lower than any I've seen. I believe it is called light and fit or something like that - the container is purple. It is sold in 4 packs - and each little container is about 4oz. I love this yogurt. I am still pre-op - but I'm trying to "change my ways" before I have surgery - so I can be fully prepared. French vanilla is my favorite.

I eat a container of yogurt every day, but spread out. I use it to help me get pills down. I couldn't swallow them with water for along time. I can do it now, but I like the yogurt. I don't have Blue Bunny near me either, but I like the Yoplait light better than the Dannon. The flavors are better. I don't mean different, just more like the real thing. I don't think one container a day would really hinder your weight loss. The only way to see whether it will bother you is to try it. I'd eat a small amount, a couple of spoonfuls, first. Then wait a while and see how it makes you feel. If it doesn't bother you, you could try a little more later and so on.

Dannon Lite & Fit was my salvation in the first few weeks following surgery. Another post says it comes in four packs, I have also found it in the individual 6oz (i think) size in a variety of flavors... Strawberry, Raspberry, Bananna, Vanilla, Lemon, Lime etc... Good luck!

I really enjoy eating yogurt. I used to eat it every day for breakfast, but now I am eating it 2 or 3 times a week, just to mix things up. I eat the Great Value (Wal-Mart brnad) yogurt. I was surprised to find out how good it tastes, and have been eating it for several months now. I eat the light non-fat yogurt in the purple cup. They have several great flavors including strawberry, blueberry, peach, mixed berry, and vanilla. My absolute favorite is the banana. I personally do not care for the lemon. They are 6oz individual cups, and they all have around 80 calories, 7g protein, 0g fat, and 7g sugars.

I don't eat a whole lot of yogurt, but when I do I like the Dannon Light 'n' Fit also. It is sweetened with fructose and splenda and the taste works for me. I don't like the taste of nutrasweet, which most of the other lite yogurts use. I haven't found the Blue Bunny brand yet, but I like their other no sugar added stuff so I would love to try it.
