Question:
I'm one month post op and still feeling pain

i am feeling more sore now then when I returned home from hospital. Every time I get up from a sitting position I can barely stand up straight because it feels like everything is pulling apart inside. Sometimes I feel like a hunchback. Also have achy pain in my middle back. Anyone else with these problems or am I the only oddball out there?    — krksis (posted on June 21, 2003)

Stephanie, you are not an oddball! I'm not sure what the pain in the back is, but I sure felt the same pull apart sensation those first few weeks you are describing. Did you have the open RNY? Open RNY 10/30/02 and down 165 lbs.

I was the same way. I couldn't believe when I would hear some people say they only needed pain pills for a few days and were fine, cuz boy was I feelin it for a while! I as in major pain for 3 weeks, then it got better and it was soreness for the next few weeks. I felt like a hunchback as well. I think your body hunches over b./c your stomach and incision hurts, so you bend to not stretch it, then you get used to it hunching, and your back still hurts. It will go back to normal, so you have to bear with it for a while, but its not uncommon. Goodluck and feel better :-)
