Question:
Anyone have problems with Wellbutrin? They make me sick.

I have been taking Wellbutrin for a few years now. At first, it made me feel a little queasy, but that went away after a couple of weeks and has worked very well since then. I had really good results for about 2 years, then the effect started to change and I was becoming somewhat depressed again. So my doc prescribed a larger daily dose of Wellbutrin - and that made me a total space cadet! Couldn't think straight. My doc then suggested I take the regular amount of Wellbutrin, plus a very small dose of another anti-depressant. The combination is perfect. My doc said that current research suggests that most people have more than one brain chemical that's out of whack and, consequently, most people require a combination of drugs to receive the most benefit. How people react to drugs is very individual. But see if you can find a doctor who is specially trained in dealing with anti-depressant medications (like a psychiatrist). Good luck.

It is possible after some time for anti-depressants to lose their 'punch'. You could have broken through the wall of their effectiveness. I suggest a change. MANY better drugs (with fewer side effects) have come on the market in the last 2 years. If your doctor is not up to date...change doctors. I suffered for 10 years with depression and finally decided to have electro shock treatment. Which cured me. If you suffer for an extended period of time, you may have 'treatment resistant depression' which is currently being studied. Find a good doc. It can save your life.

I couldn't take it for a while--the first couple of times I tried post-op, the pill got stuck in my stoma and made me vomit (Wellbutrin is simply too bitter to crush, and even cutting results in a nasty taste). Am now 10 weeks post-op and have no real problems taking the pill, as long as I take it well before or well after I eat. Good luck.
