Question:
Why doesn't this weight come off????

I had surgery June 11, 2001. Lost 16 pounds in the first week in hospital; was so thrilled, but since then, weight just drips off. In the last two months, only an additional 15 pounds! Yee Haw! What is wrong here. I'm doing everything I should be. I thought this surgery would eliminate the stress of trying to "starve". In my "other life", it was always like this; only 5 pounds a month and that was if I starved. What is it about my system that the weight won't move? Anybody got any answers? Georgia    — Georgia H. If you really are starving that might be the reason the scale is not moving. If you are not eating enough nutients your body will hold on to what it's got. Try upping your protien and water and lowering your carbs. Also if you are not exercising yet then you need to start at least walking. Those are the things that get my weight loss moving. If these things don't work then you may just be a slow loser if that is true don't lose hope it will come off it will just take a little longer. I hope this helps.

Hi! I am losing so slowly! I follow the dieticians guidelines, have protein at every meal, exercise, drink lots of water, etc. I lost 27 lbs my first month post op, with about 150 to lose the day of surgery. I am now at 5 1/2 months p.o. and I have only lost 47 lbs. Am I the only one like this, or is it just that folks who are averaging 10-20 lbs a month the only ones writing? It is very frustrating to think I am the only one going through this, and that the average wls post op is doing much better. I am 49 y.o. Take care and God bless.
