Question:
I WAS ABLE TO EAT........

1 CUP OF SPAGHETTIE THE OTHER NIGHT, IS THAT BAD. I MEAN I HAVE LOST 37 POUNDS IN THE LAST MONTHS, AM REALLY NOT EATING MUCH THRU OUT THE DAY, MAYBE CRACKERS AND PEANUT BUTTER, SOUP MAYBE. BUT LAST NIGHT HUBBY MADE SPAGHETTI, AND I ATE A CUP AND HAD NO TROUBLE KEEPING IT DOWN. DOES THAT MEAN I HAVE STRECHED MY POUCH OR HOW COULD I EAT THAT MUCH.    — Gale G. Spaghetti is very soft and passes through the pouch quickly. A similar thing happened to me where I was able to eat more then usual. I panicked because I thought I had a staple line rupture. To me that more then a stretched pouch, that means surgery again and I didn't know whether or not the insurance company would pay for it. This did not happen. I did discover that there are days that I can eat more and the next very little. Over time your pouch will stretch to the size of a tennis ball, from what my surgeon tells me. Don't worry about this because eating the right foods and exercising will prevent weight gain. However I've heard of people that stretched their pouch to the size of their old stomach. I don't know how this fact holds up. Hang in there your doing fine!

No I do not believe you stretched your pouch. You will find that some foods you will be able to eat larger amounts of than others. Depends too if you are drinking while you eat cause that of course will push food thru faster. And some foods are softer or slippery going thru while a large portion of, for example, meat would be so dry going down and you wouldnt be able to eat the same amount, and usually sticks in my pouch for awhile longer than other foods. I can eat a whole grilled cheese & egg sandwich but only 1/2 of a grilled turkey & cheese. Eggs go down really fast for me. Thats why I eat alot of eggs, good for protein also.

My surgeon told me that it is very difficult to stretch your pouch and that you would have to overeat for a long time to do so. Soft foods like spaghetti definitely do not stretch a pouch and neither do liquids. Some foods you can eat more that others, depends on the consistency

Not sure if someone said this.. but just because you can eat it.. you probably shouldn't... I don't know that I could get a cup of anything down.. but maybe I'm underestimating myself... you should eat all through the day.. 4 or 5 times.. and I think you'd be less likely to be able to get that much in ... in the evening..
