Ok everybody knew I said I had no interest in RNY But I hve decided to cover all of my bases.After haing my consult for Lap Band am mor convinced than ever that this is the way I want to go HOWEVER I know that there is a very BIG possibility that BCBS will not cover the surgery, and although I have a consult next month for VBG the Lap Band surgeon (Dr Spiegel)has strongly advised me not to go that route that if i cant get lap band get RNY.I intend to do SOMETHING! REFUSE to stay FAT any longer.SOOOO that said I am looking for a surgeon in the Houston area or Louisiana between Lake Charles and Lafayette who performs LAP RNY so tell me who you think is the best as far as credentials aftercare personality and office staff knowledge and skill speedy insurance approvals and appts APPROVAL WITH BCBSTX PPO Thanks for your help. — Lisa F. Hi Lisa, I had lap RNY here in Victoria TX. Which is about a 120 miles
south of Houston. My surgeon is Dr. Dean McDaniel, I also had BC/BS. The
office staff here is great, Dr.McDaniel's nurse Jennifer is the greatest
and is always ready to help. The hospital has a wing just for women and the
nurses gave me wonderful care. If you need any information here is the

months out and have lost a 100lbs and feel twenty years younger. Good luck

The surgeon I go to is is New Orleans (not TOO far off from where youa re
willing to travel). The program is really great. The Renew Program through
Pendleton Methodist is run by Dr. Ruary O'Connell and Dr. Wagih Mando. They
always operate together and are really top notch. They do primarily open
RNYs. I have enjoyed their program and they really stress education and

Neweigh in Houston has an awesome aftercare program. The staff are all
'little sisters and brothers' that have had the surgery. They really work
for you, help you with insurance approval, etc. There are 3 doctors that
are affiliated with them - mine is Carlos Ferrari. He also has a private
practice but I went through Neweigh for the aftercare - you can see him at
either office. He had done over 1300 surgeries and has assisted in even
more. My surgery is Tuesday. Good luck

In Orange TX, between Lake Charles and Beaumont is Dr Stan Hahn. He's great

I had surgery by Dr. Hargroder in Baton Rouge and he is awesome!!! He does
the Lap RNY and band. There is also a doctor in Lake Charles that just
started a great program. His name is Dr. Keith Chung and he works with St.
Pat's hosptial. He does the lap too. I have met him and he is a great
doctor. I think both programs are awesome. I am 8 months out and doing
great. 240/135/140.
