Question:
I'm taking an airplane soon. What can I drink when they bring the beverage cart?

My surgeon says nothing w/ caffeine and nothing carbonated and nothing with sugar. I never have drunk coffee so decaf isn't an option. What do others drink on a plane?    — Margaret G. (posted on September 10, 2003)

All airlines serve juices, water, tea and nonfat milk.I have also had tomatoe juice. If you have any doughts about what to drink, take your own beverage, they don't mind at all. If you are going on a long flight you can request specials meals and drink. I have done that frequently.

I was a flight attendant for a number of years, so I DO know of where I speak, teehee... we ALWAYS served good old-fashioned water, we had an assortment of juices as well as coffee and tea. You can also bring something of your own, like Crystal Lite if you don't like what is served from the beverage cart. Remember, the flight attendants are there for your safety and offer beverages as a courtesy, but do not offer "bistro" services like back in the good old days. We always did the best we could to accomodate folks, but experienced travelers always brought their own "emergency rations" as do I everywhere I go. Good luck!

I just went to NY (from CA) a few weeks ago and what I did was bring my water bottle with me. I then asked them to fill my bottle with water and asked for some lemon wedges and Equal/Sweet&Low (I'd forgotten to bring my Splenda with me). Squeezing a lemon wedge or two into the water and adding a packet of Equal made for a great "homemade" lemonade. I love drinking water this way and find that by bringing my water bottle, I can get my liquids in no matter where I am. (most restaurants, airlines, etc. will have lemon and artificial sweeteners on hand :)

Tomato Juice on the Rocks!... my fave beverage while flying the friendly skies. If you like it spicy, ask for the Bloody Mary MIX (no alcohol). Yum.

Hi...they always have those little 8oz bottles of water on the flights I take, but I usually am carrying my own water, so I get the Blood Mary MIX that they have on the plane. I don't like the plain tomato juice because it's too bland for me, so I ask for the Bloody Mary Mix (Mr & Mrs. T's) without the vodka, and it's great! Have a great flight! Denise 316/155

hiya~ i just want to warn you about the juices. make sure you don't get one that is a "cocktail" because that has 3 kinds of sugars in it and can make you dump -- definetely don't want that while on an airplane! LOL... i flew across country earlier this year and had only been drinking water so i asked what kinds of juices they had. she said, "cranberry juice" as one option...well it was cranberry cocktail and i didn't drink it.. oh well water is always available thank goodness. good luck, kate

My emergency rations for traveling include - a big bottle of water frozen the night before, a bottle of crystal lite. To keep tham from sweating as they thaw I wrap in a few paper towels before puttingin my carry on back pack. Prepackaged peanutbutter crackers or the little cheese and pretzel packs. A couple protein bars. A few small ziplock bags with premeasured protein powder in them. ( i can get milk to mix it on the plane if needed. ) the packets of tuna salad with a few crackers. and a couple pieces of fresh fruit. It carries me thru the plane trip and til I can get to a store when I get to my destination. I know it is psychotic, but I am afraid of being in a situation where there is nothing to eat that won't make me feel poorly. I also get like a starving wolf if it is time to eat. I cant eat much but I need my regular mealtimes.

I carry so much crap with me on airplanes these days.. including a bottle of water, or sometimes my NO sugar iced tea mixed with water.. and as willow said.. it starts frozen. Frozen 1/2 bottles of water are how we live in our house.. there's always four or five in the freezer at a time and I grab one in the morning or anytime. <br>Anyway on a plane I ask for a cup or two of ice water, limes, and equal or S&L ... and I make my own limeade ... I've never found a flight with a SF noncarbonated beverage other than water.

Most airlines carry a variety of beverages, like juices (orange, tomatoe, and usually apple), water and some carry teas.
