Question:
Has anyone had this problem? blood in stool

I am 9 months postop and have lost 117 pounds. Everything is going great except when I went for my yearly physical with my PCP I had a stool specimen to check positive for blood. He made me an appointment with my surgeon and she did a repeat check and it came back positive with blood. She also checked me for hemmrhoids and a fissure which I do not have. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy May 6. I drink around 80 to 100oz. of water everyday. I have never been constipated since the surgery. I have been having bouts with severe diahhrea and it comes without any warning. I don't think it is dumping unless you can have a very long delayed reaction. I have been a little more tired lately. I am a little scared of what they might find. Anyone else had a similar problem?    — cindylou56 (posted on May 2, 2004)

FIRST DONT PANIC! There are lots of conditions that can cause this, most of which can be easily managed. Irritable bowell, divertelocsis, just to name a couple. These two can be made worse by what you eat. lots of nuts berries and seeds which are common postie friendly foods arent the best. The colonscopy today isnt bad, they will put you out, like so its not like the old days Request fleet phospho for clean out, as go lighty has such a big volume you might have trouble getting it all down. Most of the scariest things in our lives turn out to be nothing when we look back at them. I pray this is the case for you and please let us know whats up.

Don't panic, first off. There's tons of things that could cause this. I panicked the first time it happened to me and all it turned out to be internal hemmhroids. She told me to up my fiber and gave me something to heal them up. It's happened two or three times.
