Question:
Anyone have a Seat-Extender they no longer need?

I know we have a clothing exchange link on this site, but I was wondering if anyone that has lost a lot of weight might have a seat-belt extender they are no longer using. I have a teen age son- ready to now learn to drive he weighs 400 lbs and he can barely buckle the regular belt and when he does he is very uncomfortable much too uncomfortable to drive. We own a Nissan Sentra (97) and also a Jeep Cherokee Sport (99). I think extenders have to match according to the dealer & type of belt. Before going to the deal for these, I'd be happy to pay anyone who has one they no longer need. Thanks!    — SARose61 (posted on June 23, 2004)

Chrysler at least dodge gave us one for free for our caravan. I was surprised they said it was company policy. You might check with a dealer since jeep is owned by chrysler

I've gotten extenders for free many times. Just call the parts department at your local dealer, even if your car is an older model. I know Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler & Jeep have done this for us in the past. If they don't have them on hand when you call, be sure to ask the cost if they offer to order them.

I have always called the parts department and had them ordered. They are free for a new or used car. I was even able to get one for an 83 bonneville when I realized that they still had the same seatbelt type. When I told them the year, they said no way. I called a second dealer and added 10 years to the vehicle making it a 93. It fit like a glove. Your cars are fairly new, so they should have them available.

by law the Auto dealer has to suply you with a seat belt extender for free, though most of the time it does have to be orderd...

I wouldn't bet on them being free. The ones I have for a Mitsubishi cost me $$, and I even asked about people saying they were free and was told that they charge for theirs...so I guess it depends on the dealership. They weren't too expensive though, $19 a piece I think. Christy

I had the same problem before losing weight. I have a Ford Mustang 1993 and went to the dealer they supplied me for free 1 seatbelt extenderif more were needed I would of been charged. If my extender is compatable to what you need I will be happy to send it to ya. Just let me know.
