Question:
I am almost six months post op and lately have been wanting more veggies.

Is there any site on the web that lists the carb content? I tried to do a search, but it wasn't what I was looking for. Also, I made pea soup this weekend-is this something I should steer clear of (due to carbs) I am just a little concerned about the carb intake and didn't know what veggies I should try to avoid...Thanks so much for your help.    — Marcie B. I agree with the last post. I had really unbelievable cravings for veggies at different times post-op (I'm 16 months post-op). I was told that we must eat a well-balanced diet, and that my body is telling me I desperately need the veggies. Besides, veggies are complex carbs, not simple carbs, like sugar. Yes, your body metabolizes all carbs the same way, BUT, complex carbs do not wreak havoc with your blood sugars as much. As a diabetic (former?) I had to learn all this stuff. Anyway, enjoy your veggies. When you have gotten enough, the cravings will pass, until the next time. Good luck!

I'm almost ten months post-op now. Never, do I count carbs or calories. Yet, I have lost 146 pounds with just a few more to go. However, I have made a choice not to eat my "trigger foods." (be that junk food or fast foods). For me, eating foods that are not processed, abstaining from white flour & sugar & sodas and exercising every day has been the key to my weight loss. Processed foods have a lot of hidden problems. I still crave veggies and I have been eating them since about 4 months out. Enjoy your veggies :-)

I am pre-op and am taking a product called Juice Plus+. It is one way to get in 17 fruits and veggies in two fruit capsules in the A.M. and two veggie capsules in the evening. I let one open in my mouth once just to see what it tastes like and I probably will be able to tolerate it after surgery mixed in some apple sauce.
