Question:
Has anyone or do you know anyone who started out slow but it picked up later?

I am 5 1/2 months out and have lost 64 pounds. Just wanted to know is there a possiblity it might pick up. I started as a heavy weight - 389 pounds.    — twin94 (posted on August 20, 2003)

Hi Margaret - I was a slow loser too in the beginning. I started out at over 400 pounds and had lost about the same amount you had at 5-6 months. I kept working at it and I really worked out a lot. Now at 2 years post op I've lost 285 pounds and wear a size 2 on the top and a size 8 on the bottom, but I am having plastic surgery next week to bring the bottom in sync with the top(way too much excess skin on my bottom half). So you can start out slow and still lose all the weight you want to lose! Just don't give up and don't assume you've got to lose all the weight within a certain timeframe. Good luck to you and don't get discouraged.

I started out slow, losing about 50 pounds in the first 4 months (well, it felt slow to me!), but then in the 5 and 6th month, I lost 40 pounds. So it did start speeding up a bit. I can't say where things are going to go after 6 months, but I learned to just relax and do the things I know I need to do. The weight will come off when it's time.
