EXCELLENT question. I'm getting ready to go for my 3 month follow up visit w/my surgeon and I was wondering the same thing. I'll be watching to see what the answers are.....best wishes to you.

Depends on the Dr. Most will probably order a Chem Screen, CBC,UA,Iron/TIBC,Ferritin,Vitamin B12/Folate, Vitamin D. There are many other tests that they can order, but it depends on your medical history.

I just had mine done, here is what they tested: Vit. B1, Vit. B12, Potassium, Folate, Albumin, and Iron. They do most of these monthly but not all of them. I also have mine done at a military hospital, and they said they CAN do them monthly because there isn't the insurance hassle. So it may seem like overdoing it, but they said that they are learning a lot about post-op gastric bypass by doing them so often. I'm not sure what the 'going rate' is for how often they check these in the 'civilian world'.
