Question:
Is it normal to spit up blood 6 weeks out?

I ate scrambled eggs for the first time this morning and they came right back up. That was about a half hour ago. Now every few minutes, I am spitting up a small amount of blood. I've only had to throw up a few times in almost 6 weeks, so I have no idea if this is normal. I don't remember anything about this in my post-op visits either and I'm almost sure I've never seen this here.    — Jessica C. (posted on May 26, 2003)

It is not normal to be spitting up blood. You need to go to your doctor or the emergency room asap! Anytime blood comes back up, it is a sign that something is wrong. Good luck, and God bless.

The same thing happened to me the first time I tried scrambled eggs. My doctor's office said that this is common and recommend that we avoid eggs for awhile. You could try making them really moist or putting a sauce on them, some cheese or salsa if you're up to that. I would just take it easy today, go with liquids/broth and try your regular diet again tomorrow. If it gets heavier or you are concerned, them by all means check it out with your doctor.
