Question:
Has anyone ever experienced weight gain Post-Op???

After having many complications in the past and not eating, I have come around to be able to eat for the last three months or more. I had lost about 180 some lbs, but now that I am able to eat and have become much more active after being barely mobile due to complications that affected my health, I have now began to encounter a weight gain of about 15 lbs. For the last three months or so I ahve been at a plateau where I did lose anything, yet my clothes went down two sizes. But now, after all of this, the scales are saying I am gaining about 10 - 15 lbs. I am very concerned. Even though I have lost about 180, the gain would knock that succesful numebr back to about 170, and the scales are saying I am still weighing around 260. I want to get under the 200 lb. mark. Please help me if you know anything that will help me,to break my platea, and what to do not to gain weight. God Bless you all!    — Wesley M. (posted on September 20, 2003)

Wesley: You're right to be concerned over a gain of 10 to 15 pounds. I didn't think too much of my weight gain until it was totally out of control. I maxed out at 41 pounds regained. How I wish I'd put a stop to it much earlier. I suggest you go to your surgeon and have them scope you to see if your stoma is enlarged as mine did. What I have to do is down right diet to get the weight back off. It's doable, but just as much fun this time as it was preop and I'm sure everyone remembers how much fun that is right? So congratulations on your lose to date, but keep your eye on the ball. Figure out what is wrong and then deal with it. If you want to email me with more details I'd be happy to give advice and support. Good luck. S
