Question:
Does anyone know if WLS is covered under MEDI/CAL? If so, what is the process?

My mom wants WLS and only has Medi/Cal. She lives in Chico,Ca. Does anyone know how she can go about getting covered for WLS? The steps? Are there only certain doctors they let you go see? Specific types of WLS? Thanks for your input. Annie    — Annie R. (posted on May 2, 2001)

My cousin just recently got approved with medical. I have heard that the only surgeon in California that accepts medical is DR Gladden at University Medical CEnter in Fresno.

I have Medi-Cal and I'm having surgery at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The hospital can only take two medi-cal patients per month, so the waiting list is long. Call (916)734-2858 and ask for Matildi. She is the surgery coordinator and will tell you everything you need to know.

There are a lot more surgeons that take Medi-cal than I thought. There is one in Fountain Valley...Dr. Peter Laport(check spelling) and Dr. Kasheshian in Delano.
