Question:
Can the surgery be done again after a stomach stapling has been reversed?

In 1982 I had a stomach stapling which worked great until I got PG in 1984. I gained it all back!! In 1989 I had to have gallbladder removed, so Dr. "tightened up" my stapling and tightened opening to large intestine. Due to scaring, opening to large intestine slowly closed off until I had to have surgery to correct it. Dr. totally reversed stapling. Can a WLS be preformed again and how likely is it that Ins. will pay for it (they paid for everything else!!) ? Thanks, Patty    — Patty_D. (posted on October 17, 2000)

I had my Gastric Bypass revised 1 year after my origanl sugery due to an ulcer...and my doctor told me today that it would be extremely dangerous for any to have another WLS after it being revised once before...

Somew surgeons like mine specialize in the tough cases, but it can be done. You will have to shopc around for a surgeon.
