Banner – University Medicine Metabolic and Bariatric Center offers expert care in the medical and surgical treatment of obesity for adult and adolescent patients. Led by Robin P. Blackstone, MD, FACS the multidisciplinary team offers highly personalized service and state of the art care. The foundation of our program is built on providing both group and individualized patient education. Our team has experience with over 5,000 bariatric surgical patients.

We use a minimally invasive laparoscopic technique in over 99% of our procedures. We specilaize in gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch, adjustable gastric band and both revisions for weight regain and corrective surgery for chronic problems after previous bariatric surgery.

Each patient receives evaluations by a registered dietician, surgeon and psychologist. Our family nurse practitioner specializes in the medical nad surgical care of patients with obesity and has over 15 years experience. She is available to assist our patients by providing critical support throughout the program and helps in the extensive preoperative and postoperative educaiton cources.

In addition, our experienced scheduling, authorization and medical assistant staff faciliate your authorization process. We provide medical weight loss therapy in the office if required by your insurance company or can work with your primary care physician to satisfy that requirement. We also offer a full adolescent bariatric program for youths aged 13 - 19 and there is no upper age limit.
