Barix Clinics of TX Bariatric Center

Dr. Wiltse is a great man. I first heard about him through two friends that both had him as their surgeon. When I went in for my consult, everything was great. The office staff was incredibly helpful and efficient. After answering a TON of questions (which I have now found out, you have to do alot) I finally met with Dr. Wiltse. It first impressed me that I was actually meeting with him and not some PR rep or something. He is very sensitive, somewhat softspoken, very professional and funny in his own right. He answered all my questions and told me that if I had more he would stay as long as I needed him.
On the day of my surgery, I didn't see him until about 20 minutes pre op. He had just finished his 4th surgery that day (they squeezed mine in as #5), when I made a comment about how he had been at this for 8 hours already and was he feeling confident (and not tired), he laughed and said his nurses had done a great job at making sure he was relaxed, his nurse came in at that point and pointed out that he had already been given a back massage. So that helped my nerves a bit.
He came in the day after my suregery to check on me (since I was the 5th surgery that day which meant my surgery was over close to 6 pm, he had a meeting he had to be in after my suregery so he wasn't able to come that night) . He checked on me again on my release date (no worries because the nursing staff was INCREDIBLE) I almost didn't want to leave when I was released!
I would give Dr. Wiltse and his staff an A+. He and his staff demonstrated impeccable competencies both surgically and in bedside manner.

When I went to BTC for the first consultation I met with Dr. Leverton. She is no longer with the Wylie, TX location. I actually met Dr. Wiltse the day of my surgery. I read about him on www.obesityhelp.com and checked his licences as well as talked to a few of his patients. My first inpression of Dr. Wiltse was that he was careful and soft spoken. He wanted to make sure that I understoon what I was asking him to do. Future patients should know that Dr. Wiltse is a former plastic surgen so the scare will be a pretty one. If asked to rate Dr. Wiltse and BTC I would give them both an A plus. The hospital and clinic staff were great. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS!

Dr Wiltse is really wonderful. I did not meet him until the actual day of my surgery. (He was not the original doctor that took my case. That doctor was called up for military duty when the war with Iraq started.) Dr Wiltse was very informative on some last minute questions that both my husband and I had. He helped to calm the "pre surgery" jitters somewhat, also. He has a great bedside manner and a wonderful sense of humor. His office staff was wonderful as well as the nurses that took care of me after surgery. I would definitely recommend him to anyone considering having WLS.

At first, I thought Dr Wiltse to be a quiet, reserved kinda guy. Although he was a little reserved, he came to visit me 2 times after surgery just to check up on me. Of course, he only stayed long enough to check on me and let me ask questions, but I felt so comfortable around him. He checked my dressings and made sure my chest was covered up and the sheet was past my waist. He made me feel very safe and comfortable in his care. He complimented me on how well I was doing post-op and assured me that all should be well with my progress. I go to see him for my 2 week check up next Thursday and I can't wait to show him my progress so far. He is truly a class act kinda doctor!!!

Dr. Peter Wiltse has been great. I had read some comments about him from other previous patients stating his bedside manner wasn't the greatest, but how his surgical competence was superior. I'd have to agree with that assesment overall. Dr. Wiltse did impress me when as I was being preped for surgery, I was scared and started to cry, and he told me that I did not have to follow through with the procedure, I could call it off at that moment, or even re-schedule it for another time and my comfort level. He didn't try to pressure me to go ahead and wanted to be sure I was ready. Within a few hours of the completion of my surgery, he came in to check on me and told me everything went perfectly. My care at the Bariatric Treatment Center was fantastic! The staff was so kind, caring and attentive. Every nurse I had was awesome. To be quite honest I didn't want to leave afer my 3 days! They all did a terrific job keeping me comfortable and keeping my pain level minimal. The aftercare has been great too, with weekly calls to monitor my progress and address and concerns I may have. I'd DEFINATELY recommend Dr. Wiltse and the Bariatric Treatment Center in Wylie, Texas to anyone thinking about this procedure.

He is very low key and slow-paced, at first didn't even think he WAS the doctor because he wasn't rushed or hurried. He is a man of few words but answered every question patiently and with a little glimmer of humor.
He was all biz on surgery day and by then you could tell he was in his element; happy being a surgeon, not so happy with consultations, maybe. Suits me fine - I want a surgeon who likes his job.
I had fantastic treatment at the Bariatric Treatment Center. Everything was state-of-the art. They only do this so I had a lot of attention and the nursing staff was extrememly competent and not overworked or harried.
Great package: Dr. Wiltse + BTC (Wylie, TX)

I had a consultation with Dr. Idhe last year. I have an appointment for a revisit on April 22,2003. Since Dr. Idhe no longer works at BTC, my consultation will be with Dr. Leverton. I am so excited! I have heard such great things about her. I think things are starting to go my way! I will let you know what I think of Dr. Leverton after I meet her.

I met Dr. Leverton on 4/24/03. Do you really want to know the first thought that came to mind? "She is so little! I can jut picture her standing on a step stool to reach everything she needs to during surgery." LOL! I was totally at ease with Dr. Leverton. She let me ask all of my questions and she answered every one of them. I think putting my surgery off for a year was the best thing I have done since I started this whole process. I now feel like I will be in the best hands possible when I have my surgery.

Dr. Wiltse will be the doctor doing my surgery. I have not met him yet, but I will let you know what I think of him when I get home from BTC on 8/9/03.

Dr. Wiltse is very straight-forward. He answered all of my questions as well as my husband's questions. He made sure we were both comfortable with the procedure. He explained all of the risks and the benefits of the surgery. He did not talk down to me and that made me feel good. The office staff was very friendly and it was just a great environment all the way around. I also like the fact that they have someone there who has gone through the surgery. She explained all the post-op stuff and answered all of my questions even though some of them may have been weird to someone who hasn't gone through this. I am happy I chose BTC.

Dr. Wiltse strikes me as a very down-to-earth person. He's very intelligent, and openly answered all of my questions. Especially when we talked about risks. He didn't sugar-coat anything. But he also said that if I did everything the way I am told to do that I will be very happy with the results. And I aim to prove him right! Like many specialists, he's not necessarily what you'd call a "people person" upon first impression, but I like that note of seriousness. However, now that I'm post-op I can tell you that behind that seriousness is a very real person. He came to visit me on Sunday in the hospital wearing a Hawaiian shirt rather than your typical surgeon dark suit. I'm thinking that he is like me - sensible and with a very dry sense of humor. I like him! I am so impressed with Dr. Wiltse. His technique is phenomenal - I have no drainage tube, and my incision is "pretty" - no staples, just sutures. It's nice and thin, and pinkish. I would highligh recommend Dr. Wiltse to anyone. In fact, my friends that came to visit while I was in the hospital do, too - they're already sharing his name with other ladies in my office that are researching the surgery.
