He was very attentive.
I only got more confident in him.
I had a little trouble getting my insurance approval, because they submitted it the first time as a lap-band surgery. For the rest of my experience, they were very informative. They acted very quickly after my insurance approval.
It is hard for me to find anything to say what I least liked about him.
They made the total experience very informative.
They emphasize aftercare very much. My personal care physician described the aftercare as compareable to no other. It is very structured and very detailed in their explaination of the risks and advantages of both surgeries.
I would rate the total experience as excellent.
Both were great. He and his staff are very attentive. They always seem to have time to talk, even after hours and on weekends.
I met with Dr. Oldham last week for the first time and as all his female patients say he is a "hottie", but besides that he is a very caring doctor. He was very kind and listened to what I had to say about my fears and/or goals that I wanted to reach. The staff is great. I have never seen office staff that are so into making you comfortable or getting you to where you want to be even if it is worrying with the insurance. Cathi is great. She is one of the most unique people when it comes to having surgery. She tells you like it is and what you have to do to make your stay more comfortable and how to have a more speedy recovery time. The aftercare program is terrific and I am ready to use it when my surgery is finished. Dr. Oldham went over all the risk of surgery with me. What to expect should this or that happened. I would have to rate Dr. Oldham and Dr. Weiss a 10. Both are very skilled surgerons. As far as what is better I would hope (and am sure) that Dr. Oldham and Dr. Weiss have both surgical competence and great bedside manners. I tried hard to find something that I liked least about Dr. Oldham and the only think that I can come up with is that they are very busy and even though he spent a lot of time with me you could tell he had a time limit for each patient. These are my opinions and from them you can see that I really am very confident that I will have the best two surgeons in the state making my surgery as fast and simple as they can to start my new life. I plan on coming back and updating this after my surgery. I am sure it will only get better.
Actually I had 2 surgeons, Dr.John Oldham and Dr. Derek Weiss. They are both great.
I had my initial visit with Dr.Oldham and I see him for my follow-up appointments. He is very professional, but also a very caring and compassionate person. He is always eager to answer any questions that I have. He is always concerned about my health not only my weight lose. Dr. Weiss has taken care of me on occasions when Dr.Oldham was out of town. He is also very professional and caring. I am so thankful for these two doctors, they have given me a new life. Thank you for everything. They are the greatest in my eyes.I rate them a 10. As far as the staff goes at the Georgetown Bariatric Center I rate them 10 also, they care about the patients. Thank you all for giving my life back to me and being there when I need you.
My experience so far with Dr. Oldham is excellent. My first impression of him is that he IS a hottie. LoL His office staff is WoNdErFuL! Cassiah, the post-op nurse, had Open RNY herself and had lost over 400lbs! It's a great feeling to know that she will be speaking from experience, rather than just a book after surgery. I can't think of anything I didn't like about Dr. Oldham. I really like how easy he is to talk to. He doesn't act like he's better than anybody or anything like that. Has lots of confidence in his LAP experience/work. Aftercare is very important to the staff. They stress that as much as possible. They offer weekly and monthly support group meetings. There are also 2 support message boards (1 for RNY, 2nd for Band). It is required to do your post-op appts as part of the after care program. Dr. Oldham addressed all risks of surgery with me and my husband very clearly and easily. He didn't hesitate one bit when we had a question. I even had him explain some of the complication differences between the older RNY surgeries and todays surgeries. Lets just say he knows his stuff. So far, I rate him a 10 out of 10! He's an advanced LAP surgeon and really cares about his patients!
Dr. Oldham is an excellent doctor. I had the lapband done and have had 3 fills. I have lost 70 lbs. and would like to lose about 30 more. The doctor and staff are the best. All together I have talked to 6 friends about weight loss surgery at Georgetown and 3 of them have had surgery. I went home the same day of surgery and staff called the next day to check on me. Someone is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you need anything. The support group website is also wonderful.
Dr. Oldham was extremely informative during my pre-op appointment. He explained everything and answered my questions very well.
I cannot say enough about Dr. Oldham. He is not only a wonderful surgery, but his bedside manner is the best I've seen....and I work in the medical field. He was there everytime I needed him in the hospital. After coming home, I was running a fever. I called the hospital to have a nurse from the office call me back and instead Dr. Oldham called himself within 5 min. The entire staff at Georgetown is wonderful! I highly recommend Georgetown Bariatrics.

When I went to The Georgetown Bariatric center, I knew I would be given 1 of the 2 doctors there. I was given John Oldham, I am sure that either of these doctors would have been just as good as the other, but I have been very pleased with Dr Oldham, he is professional, but at the same time he does not talk "above" me, and is willing to answer any or all questions I have.
He is very patient and considerate, and I feel extremely fortunate to have him as my surgeon. I would highly recommend him to anyone that is considering this surgery!
The aftercare program at Georgetown Bariatric center, is out of this world. You have access to 1 of 3 nurses(whom by the way has also had WLS) 24/7, how many other medical providers offer this? None that I have ever heard of.
In my opinion, Georgetown Bariatric center is THE ONLY Bariatric center!
