He doesn't talk much and shows no emotion or personality. He was cordial and answered all my questions but not a warm fuzzy person at all! Seemed to do a good job.

Dr. Sonpal was very professional, but I never felt a personal connection to him. He did my surgery, but none of my pre or post-op check ups. They were done by another younger doctor. The office staff was very helpful, especially the insurance person, Diane Harris. There were two women on staff who had had WLS and they were very helpful. Dr. Sonpal discussed all the risks of surgery, but it was a short meeeting. He came to see me briefly after the surgery. I guess the best thing he did for me was good surgery. I didn't have any problems post-op and I have healed without any complications.

When I met with Dr. Sonpal I found him to be very direct and honest, spent as much time as needed to answer all questions my husband or I had.

I am an RN... good bedside manner was nice, but much more important to me was his surgical skill. He has done this surgery alot and has an excellent track record.

The Cleveland Center for Bariatric Surgery has a very good program...and I recieved great care while at the hospital (St. Vincent Charity).

The after care program was not impressive. Getting a response when there was a possible problem, was difficult....follow up appointments were not well put together, and were time consuming and frustrating. I do beleive they are working to improve there after care program.

Overall this is the program and surgeon I would choose again!

After my initial consult with Dr. Sonpal, I was pleased. I felt very comfortable with him and the process. This may be in part because I had know at least 2 other people who had Dr. Sonpal perform their surgeries and because of the comprehensive initital informational seminar the CCBS conducts.

Dr. Sonpal has always been pleasant and attentive and has a wicked sense of humor. Which is great!

I had my surgery on a Friday and Dr. Sonpal and my program physician were in to see me on BOTH saturday and sunday.

Dr. Sonpal is a very good doctor, very caring and very, very good at what he does. He really surprised me on my first visit with him by asking me what I planned to do if he decided not to do my surgery. This really caught me off guard, and I told him the honest truth, that I didn't know what I would do because I really believed this was my last chance. It must be what he wanted to hear, because he did my surgery less than a month later.

The Cleveland Center for Bariatric Surgery at St. Vincent's hospital was and still is a great support and resource for me. I regularly visit the web site for support and to encourage others along the way. Aftercare is very important to the group, and I will be seen for 2 years for followup. I see a dietician every 6 months and have access to them by phone or email, along with an RN and internal medicine MD who specializes in bariatric care. Overall, I'd give them the highest rating I could and recommend them to anyone!!!

I was going through Dr. Mark Jaroch in Akron, however, he is no longer doing surgery( as of right now, anyway)so, I will be going to CCBS at St. Vincent's. I just got my 1st consult date (April 20, 2004) with Dr. Schreiber. I am so anxious! I am hoping that I may get a surgery date fairly quickly, as I have already had my psych eval and all my blood work, xrays, upper GI etc. and I have a letter from my insurance stating that they do not require a pre-authorization as long a s I meet the criteria and have the evaluation, and the surgeon sends all of that in with the operative report. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

Dr. Sonpal was very easy going and down to earth he made me feel very comfortable. He had a nice sense of humor but he also was very thorough about explaining the surgery.

Although Dr. Sonpal is great the office staff was wonerful to I really feel like they are in my corner 100% Especially Diane Harris

After reading all the profiles of his current patients, I knew Dr. Schreiber wasn't going to be all warm and fuzzy, and he wasn't. He was cordial, but emotionless. He made sure I fully understood the risks and benefits of gastric bypass surgery, that I knew how the surgery would be performed, and what my role was in making sure the surgery succeeded to help me achieve the weight loss I desire. As another patient put it so aptly, "you don't have to invite the surgeon to dinner, just have confidence in them as being capable and excellent in what they do"...after meeting Dr. Schreiber I think he is fully capable and qualified to do my surgery. Who knows, maybe I'll get him to smile at some point! I'll let you know what I think of his bedside manner, once I get that far. Right now, I'm on the joyous ride called "waiting for insurance approval"...Woo-Hoo!
