I was very nervous meeting her, as I have heard she is a tough cookie. She is seriously amazing though, and is tough, but only because she wants to make sure YOU are going to follow through with what YOU are supposed to do before and after surgery! The office staff of course are amazing as well, and are there to help with any questions! Her surgical team who visited me in the hospital were awesome as well! They were all genuinely caring and warm!
I think that all future patients should make sure to follow what she asks you to do to a T! She is nice, caring and cares about each of her patients! She never made me feel like she was in a rush or trying to get me to stop asking questions...and I had quite a few!
She does do gall bladders, as she ordered an ultrasound, and since I had stones, she removed it at the same time as my RNY!
Thank you so much Dr. Bolanowski for the most amazing gift you could have given me! A second chance at a healthy life! :)

She takes what she does very seriously

How did your impression change over time?
It didn't, she is very supportive of her patients and wants to see them succeed and I think that I am lucky to have a doctor like that.

How would you describe his/her office staff?
Everyone is so nice.

What should future patients know about
her?
Don't be afraid to ask questions, she's there to help and she will tell you the truth without sugar coating it.

How much does she emphasize aftercare?
Very much. There is an awesome nutritional staff and patient support, USE THEM!

Does she have a structured aftercare program?
Yes!!

How did she address the risks of surgery?
Very clear, again she tells it like it is.

How would you rate her overall?
Great, no problem with the office either.

Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great?
Both! I couldn't ask for a better doctor! She greated me everytime I saw her with a smile and really interested in what I had to say. She took excellent care of me and made sure I was well taken care of in the hospital.

First initial went great! I have faith in her and she gave me some great feed back and was very supportive.
