Dennis L. Streeter Bariatric Center

My first impression of Dr. Streeter was that he was very upbeat and positive. It really has not changed he is always upbeat and smiling. He takes the time you need for all questions and makes you feel very comfortable about his abilities. His office staff is very nice not smarties. There isn't anything about him that I dislike but I think his overall program could use some work. By that I mean more support meetings more often and a better explanation of how restricted your diet is after surgery. I think you need to be aware of all that is involved with the surgery but also realizing that you will not get all that from your surgeon. You have to do your own homework. By the time you see Dr.Streeter you should know pretty much everything there is to know about the surgery. He does have an aftercare program but I think it could use some work. He did address the risks of surgery but Like I said earlier I know I did not realize the food restriction and the pain following the surgery. I would rate him as and excellent surgeon. I felt his competence as a surgeon was great and I had heard many great things about his surgical ability. His bedside manner was very good but you are released the next day after surgery. That is his policy unless there is a complication.

Dr. Streeter is very personable and is always happy. He gets as excited as his patients when they lose weight. He is also very informative, as is his staff. They are all very nice and helpful.
There is nothing that I don't like about him. He strongly recommends going to support group meetings before, and especially after having surgery.
He explained the risks as well as the good results that can be obtained from the surgery and answered all my questions completely.
I would rate him a 10 out of 10 and would highly recommend him and his staff.
He will be fixing an incisional hernia and doing a tummy tuck at the same time for me when I get closer to my goal.
I think surgical competence is overall the best attribute to have, BUT it's nice to have such a nice, friendly doctor, too. A competent doctor doesn't always have a great bedside manner, BUT, Dr. Streeter does. YEAH!!!!

Dr Dennis Streeter right off the bat was interested in me and how i was feeling he spent time trying to find out how he could help with the best possible solution.this man is always caring very positive and uplifting.his staff is a fantastic bunch of people from when you walk thru the doors of his office even after you leave (if you call with a question they are very happy to answer, your not treated as if your bothering them.He tells you right away what is going to happen and the risk with the surgery. He tells you about the surgery and the program you will be put on he does'nt use cathertors or the morphine drip he wants you up and walking right away.He says if you lay in bed all drugged up and not moving around is when you get complications.almost all patients go home the next day with a follow up the following week and every week after for the first month then every two weeks for a month or two than you go once a month for about a year within that time you should have reached your goal weight. He tells you what kind of vitamins to take(double x's multi vitamin and balance health omega 3's with protein shakes and bars)Overall rating is a perfect score in my book and would recommend him to everybody, his bedside manner is a great one.his nurse(susan lives about 2 hours away from the hospital and still was up there the next day to see if everthing was fine) also after i went home the doctor called that night to see how i was feeling (not many doctors do that now a days)I owe my life to this man and his wonderful staff so if your trying to decide who's the best in the region look no further than Dr.Streeter....
my very first impression of Dr. Streeter, was that he was a joyful man. And when I found out that he was a sunday School Supterintendant, i was overjoyed to know that a man of God would be operating on me.My impression has only gotten better in these 3 weeks of Dr. Streeter. I had to call him on Christmas Day and he was not angry about it, and I've had to call him for emergencies on 2 other occasions, and all times he had been helpful. The office staff is the same as he is, joyful and courteous, always willing to help and answer any questions. I have nothing that I don't like about him. Future patients that have an interest in the God in him, should know that he is a Christian man.Dr. Streeter greatly emphasizes aftercare, and checks on his patients, and his aftercare is a structured program. He told me of all the risks of the surgery in great detail and it was my decisoin to preceed. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest, Dr. Streeter gets a 10+++++++++ from me!

Dr Streeter did my Gall Bladder surgery 6 years ago. So when I went to my family dr to find out about this surgery, I was planning on going to Chicago Il since I knew a couple people that went there. My family doctor asked why I wanted to go to Chicago instead of here and I told him I didn't know any dr around here. He told me Dr Streeter does this surgery so immediately I called Dr Streeter. I love this doctor. He is so caring. I would rate him the best. Now I am undating on Dr Streeter after my surgery. HE IS THE BEST, CARING doctor I have ever met. I had a few minor set backs a couple days after my surgery and I had to call him four times in one day. He never got upset with me. He finally had to put me back in the hospital for 23 hours to get my stomach settled. He came in early the next morning to check on me and then came back that afternoon to make sure I felt good enough to try to go back home again.

My first Apt. is on 6/24/02
I chose Dr. Streeter for 3 reasons,
1. He is close to home
2. I was able to get an appointment in the same month unlike other
doctors.
3. In Network

I was Very impressed with Dr. Streeter. He is a very experience surgeon
in many areas including
general, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. He has a great confident
attitude. After meeting him I knew he was the ONLY surgeon for me.
Dr. Streeter’s office staff is the best ! They have all become good friends!

I meet several of his patients, some only a week after surgery and they
were all praising Dr. Streeter’s abilities. One gentleman that was 7 days
post-op was already active, drove to the appointment. He is very inspiring.

I would highly recommend Dr. Dennis Streeter to anyone

Dr Streeter was the nicest Doctor I met. He was very friendly and very caring. Very Informative. This Doctor is very smart man.
His office Staff is wonderful esp Carol she is great and so helpful. Everytime I call regarding any question I may have no matter how silly they take their time with me and answer all my questions. Dr. Streeter gave me alot of info regarding surgery the pros and cons and what to expect day by day after surgery that way my hubby can get a idea. The only thing is Dr.Streeter is a very busy Doctor but he gives you every minute you need into asking questions. I cant wait to go to a support group meeting.

Dr Streeter was very friendly. I answered all my questions. He was very informative. He said because of my size (330) he would do a open RNY. He is a Vasuclar and Thoracic Surgeon. There were 4 other people in the waiting room today that had already had there surgery and they had only good things to say about him and there surgery. His staff were super friendly and they found out about my insurance for me. He told me of the risks and informed me that he had a support group that met. He gave me detailed pamplets to read. Some sample menus and suggested foods and recipes. I am schedule for april 22, 2002. I do not have to get pre authorization from medicare according to his office and medicare when I called them. They said as long as I could show that it was medically necessary. Since my medicaid was I think she said QIB. Basically they pay for my medicare premiums and deductable. Then they will cover whatever medicare covers. I called medicare to make sure this was true since when I researched the surgery I read how the doctors at winlife had to get prior approval and it was a 6 months wait at least. I waited 3 weeks. I will update more later.
