Haven't met Dr. Scott yet - but will 10/26. I have attended support group meetings hosted by is program director and she seems very knowledgeable. I would encourage everyone to keep copies of their paperwork. My insurance initially denied me, and the doctors office "trashed" my paperwork . I did all my own appeal work - so now I've got approval - but the doctors office has no paperwork. I would have saved myself some trouble by keeping copies (duh). The program director informed me that they get 20 applications a day and "can't keep 'em all." That's the one thing I wish was different. I can appreciate that he's sought after and a can deduct that he is a good surgeon - but I, as any consumer - prefers the "personal" touch - I don't want to be treated like a number. I'll post more after I meet him.

Dr Scott is great and his staff and the hospital staff are wonderful. They know what they are doing and support this surgery wonderfully. They released me after my first post op visit to my local family doctor and are working with her to continue to support me and monitor me. They did it laperscopically and it was worth the drive to get it done that way. Janet is the cordinators in the office and will help you fight the insurance company and also knows what to say to prevent a fight. She got my insurance approve on the first try. Dr Scott covered all the risks prior to the surgery and ordered all kinds of tests prior to surgery to fully evaluate my health in advance. He called in a specialist becouse he found concerns about my cardiac/respriatory systems and they monitored me closly thru surgery and after. I would stress that it's worth the drive to have it laperscopially and to have the knowledge provided by a staff like this. This is to important to accept anything else. I had surgery on Wednesday, left the hospital on Friday night and began working (only about 2 hours a day) the following week. The 2nd week I went back to work full time and the soreness was gone. Dr. Scott tested completely for leaks while I was in surgery, he found one and did follow-up testing for over a week to assure it was fixed and there were no more...

Dr. Scott is the best! He was very thorough in his explanations and I never felt at all like he was rushed. Janet is very sweet and helpful, has always returned my emails or phone calls very quick.

I had a consultation with Dr. Scott on August 31st. He was very professional and answered all of my questions. The staff throughout the day of tests and meetings were all very well informed and accomodating to my many questions. I feel much better about the whole procedure now that I have met the Dr. and talked with him.

I have met with Dr Scott twice so far and have been very well pleased with him. He is very easy to talk with and takes time to answer any and all questions. The staff and hospital seem to be very patient service centered and since they do so many of these proceedures they know what it is needed. My surgery is now scheduled for Oct 3rd and I am looking forward to it with all confidence. The aftercare program that they recommend is very well explained and detailed to help you recover as quickly as possible. I also liked the fact that Dr. Scott is more than willing to work with my personal Doctors after surgery and to answer any questions that they might have.

I really like Dr. Scott. He is a very busy DR. But he is there when you need him. My surgery went great and i have him to thank for that. I would highly recommend him.

My first appointment with Dr. Scott will be September 21, 2000. I have been communicating with Janet and have been very pleased with all her help.

Had my pre-surgical consult today (07/20/2000). Actually, he wasn't anything like how I had seen him described (rushed, not very openly talkative). May have caught him on a good day.

He was honest and direct, very thorough. He answered all of our questions fully and completely. He was relaxed and didn't seem in a hurry... seemed to be completely concentrating on me and my surgery. He fully outlined the risks of surgery, although I had already done quit a bit of research so there wasn't anything new for me there.

I can't say anything about his bedside manner, but he seemed very knowledgable, detail oriented (always good in a surgeon), and experienced.

I have not met my surgeon yet. I have corresponded with him via email. I was surprised how quickly he answered my questions.

So far, I have been very pleased with his staff. Janet Duece is his administrative assistant, and she gets all the paperwork going and appointments scheduled. She has ALWAYS returned my calls the same day and has always been very helpful and pleasant.

Dr. Scott is very skilled in laproscopic surgery and you should visit his websight at www.obesesurgery.com

I have my first appointment with Dr. Scott on Monday, 5/22/00, and I will update then.

UPDATE: Dr. Scott is a very pleasant person to talk to. He answered all my questions in laymen terms, and he didn't sugar-coat the risks involved. Very impressed so far. His helper, Janet Duce, was also very nice. She did seem a little rushed, however. Overall, I felt good when I left.
