Dr. De la torre, his staff, and the hospital care was all just great. I had a pancrease attack afterwards and other than the er, I had excellent care. His nurses are wonderful and at nearly a yr out now, they are still only a phone call away at all times. I have grown to love them all!!
My first impression- felt he was very knowlegeable and professional!rnrnImpression still the same.rnrnHis office staff- Some of the most helpful and pleasant people I ever met in a clinic. Very busy office!rnrnLike least about him- Felt rushed at first appointment. Wanted to talk more.rnrnWhat to know about him- He is a excellent surgeon with excellent experience.rnrnAftercare- He feels that it is extremely important to continue your after care and to call with any questions or problems.rnrnStructured Aftercare- Yes, you must see him at 1week, 1month, 3months, 6months, 1yr. and then 1 time a yr for the rest of your life.rnrnRisks of Surgery- Honest and up front about the risks, he doesn't lie or sugar coat it.rnrnRate Him- So far a 9, would be a 10 if I wouldnt have felt so hurried at office visits.rnrnWhich is better- To me they are both extremely important!!! It must be both. If you dont feel comfortable with him it dosen't matter how good he is !! rnrnWOULD I RECOMMEND HIM?rnYES, TO EVERYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN HAVING SURGERY OR JUST WANTING INFO ON THE SURGERY!!
I finally have my first appt to see one of the wls doctors. I will be seeing Dr.Stephen Scott. Im looking forward to meeting him and his staff and starting my journey to becoming a looser.rnrnI finally got to meet Dr. Scott Feb 15th. He and his staff were all super nice. rnrnMay 31, 2007.....rnHave had several meetings with Dr.Scott now.....He is always very nice and his office management is always nice and supportive...rnrnWooooHoooo I luv Dr.Scott for being such a wonderful doctor and giving the chance to change my life around!!! 06/10/07
He is one of the first surgeons to perform the Lap-Band procedure. He was involved in trial surgeries before they proved it to be a safe procedure. The people in the office really take care of the pre-op and post-op care. I met Dr. De La Torre twice. Once during the pre-op session and, secondly, before I went into the OR. I had no problem with that. Some complained about his bedside manner, however, I felt like he did what expected him to do; which was to perform a successful surgery. Surgical competence was way more important to me than his beside manner.
Dr. De La Torre is an excellent surgeon. He's very serious about his work. I would have liked a bit of warm spontaneity in his bedside manner but others tell me he's very focused. I can accept that and know that he's got an awesome track record in the operating room. The Doc is a straight-shooter. He tells patients the truth even when one may not want to see it. He doesn't pretend that surgery is the answer to all of my problems and, as a straight-shooter, provides a strong aftercare program.rnrnHis staff handles the people side of the patients. Each of them is compassionate and empathetic to their patients. The practice's support group (meeting twice monthly) is the best!rnrnOverall, Doc's rating for surgical competence=11; bedside manner=7.
Dr De la Torre was very thorough and made sure that I didnt have any questions. His PA Della is awesome!! Very attentive. Even called me last night as well as today to make sure all is going well.
My surgeon was very friendly when I first met him. He is very personable. Through out the entire process of all the steps I had to complete in order to have the surgery, his office was wonderful about helping me get it all done. His staff was very friendly and personable. They make you feel like you are a part of the family. The Dr answered all my questions and my husbands too. He is very informative. He discussed the risks of surgery throughly. More than one to be quite honest as time progressed toward the actual date. If I had to rate my doctor I would definately recommend him to anyone. He is truely the best. His office has wonderful after care program. So if your having your surgery done, and you live near Columbia Missouri. Dr De La Torre is definately the Dr to consult. He is absolutely wonderful.
