I had my initial appt. with Dr. F. a few weeks ago. He was very informative and sat with me for over an hour explaining the surgery. He said that not everyone who comes to see him he will operate on - he has to get to know the person first and determine if they are a good candidate. This process usually takes three months. He discussed all the risks and really tried and succeeded in scaring me! I think that is good, because I have to know the risks. He answered all my questions and he seems to genuinely care for his patients. My next appointment is October 20th at which time I am to bring a 2 week food diary and a friend/relative if possible. As of this time I feel comfortable with him, although I would like to talk to someone who also had him as a surgeon. He told me he has performed over 600 of these operations.

8/6/2000 - It is over 4 months since my surgery and I am still having complications. I keep getting infections on the incision and the doc has to open them up to drain. He refuses to give me antibiotics saying that they will not help. It is really frustrating.
