I am very impressed with Dr. Lin. He is very conservative which suits me fine. He is fairly young but has many hundreds of these surgeries behind him so I am confident that this is our best choice. I just had my second meeting with him and now have a surgery date so there is no going back now. Not that I would consider it anyway. His staff is great and there has never been a long wait in hte office or for appoinments. Dr. Lin is concerned because I am 51 years old and is taking no chances so I have been thru every test possible to make sure I come thru this in good shape. I rate Dr. Lin a 10 and highly recommend him to future Folks considering this procedure.

I liked Dr. Lin alot and wished that I had gone to see him back at the beginning. I feel that he is very confiedent, honest and upfront about what could happen during surgery. The way he put it was not how it would affect me, but how it would affect my family which I never thought about. Dr. Lin is very strict when it comes to loosing weight before surgery and he will tell you why.
He tells you upfront about the risks of surgery and even the percentage of death.
I would rate Dr. Lin on a scale from 1 to 10 a 9 because he not only is thorough with everything to do with the surgery, but he also has a very kind and sweet bedside manner. To me Surgical Competence is the most important but if there were a little room for good bedside manner then I will take it. A doctor who has a good bedside manner can calm a patient who is fearful and assure them that they will be ok which goes along way when it comes to surgery.
Now, Dr. Lin is a new Gastric By-pass surgeon on his own as far as surgery. He has gotten plenty of surgical residency and hands on with both surgery and gastric by pass with teaching doctors with him but now he is on his own and is even teaching others. He was truethful about not having any deaths from gastric by pass and even said that he knows that it will happen. I guess this makes me a little nervous but that is when I trust in God to watch over me and Guide Dr. Lin.

I first met Dr. Lin at the hospital seminar. He was very cordial and professional. I thought he was very personable and informative at my visit with him. His office staff is nice and his partner(Dr. Nana) is excellent. When the scheduling center took too long to schedule my tests, I e-mailed Dr. Lin and responded within 15 minutes. He said he would contact the scheduling department the following day, and he did! I am now on the road to my surgery date.

My first impression of Dr. Lin was one of shock..He looks so young! But was very freindly and informative. Took time to answer all my question and make sur I had a good support group in tack.
I dealt with the office staff on a very low limit..mostly of the phone, but they were very cursious and willing and eager to help. The best thing I likd about Dr. Lin is the feeling like at that moment when we talked he had no other patients. Always willing to take the time to make sure all my fears and concerns were addressed. Dr. Lin even took time to call me to make sure all questions were addressed and clear all doctors appointments with him.. HE IS REALY THE BEST!!!
I also worked with Dr. LIn in study so became very comfortable with him both before and after the surgery. I would recommend him over and over again.

My surgeon is Dr. Edward Lin from Emory Crawford-Long. I've thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and his staff. He's very out-going and personable. His over-view of the surgery is very complete and easy to understand. Barbara, Dr. Lin's office manager, is really sweet as well as helpful. He's extremely adament about aftercare, and strongly advises joining a support group. Dr. Lin does have a structured aftercare program, which you are given when you have your first appointment. He informs you of all the risks involved with the surgery and what % each one is. I definitely rate him as a # 1 surgeon and would recommened him to anyone I know. I can't rate his surgical competence yet, as I haven't had my surgery as of this date, 07/24/03, but his bedside manner when he performed my endoscopy was great! He has a great sense of humor, which is very important to me :0)

I've now had my surgery and my opinion of him as an excellent surgeon remains the same. He's very caring and really has a wonderful bedside manner. I would still recommend him (and have done so)to anyone interested in having this surgery.
