I originally was seen by the WLS group at the
University of California San Francisco. I saw
Dr. James Ostroff and his assistant Karen.
He was very harsh,but very informative.
I believe to let me know this was no "walk in
the park".I decided not to go with This group
because of the distance from my home and
the inability to get to support meetings.
I found Dr. Jenkins through a referral from
my Pulmonogist. Dr.Jenkins made me comfortable
on my first visit, explained everything
thoroughly,and since I had alot of required
work already done,worked closely with me to
complete everything.My empression of him has
gotten better each time I have seen him.
His office staff are very professional.
I only had one initial bad experience when I
first called. I like all of my initial
impressions of him.Patients need to know
that he is the Nicest surgeon I have ever
encountered.Aftercare is primary and I
understand he has a thorough after care.
The risks of surgery were discussed and
I asked alot of questions ..I would give him
a 10 as a pre-op. At his point I do not know.
Dr. Jenkins is a no nonsence guy. He is very good at what he does, and makes you feel very comfortable. His office staff are right on the ball and keep after the insurance companies. Heather has no problem letting you know what she has or hasn't heard from the insurance, or what you should do next.
Aftercare is very important to Dr. Jenkins and I am very happy about that. He will watch my progress for 5 years. If he should hear of anyone who has gone thru this eating fast food, well, look out....
He did address all the risks of the surgery and different types, and what is best for me or you. He is a really good Dr. that you can feel very confident in, and will listen and answer all your questions. Out of all the studing I did and investigating other Dr. in the Northern California area, I felt he was the most qualified for me. Bedside manner is as important as everything else in this surgery and I know he will tell me and explain everything...
Dr. Jenkins ROCKS!!!
I went in there all scared, and as soon as I met him I felt 100% better. I had 4 pages of questions and he anwsered every single one of them for me. He is going to do the Lap RNY on me, which is wonderful. I thought I was going to have the Open.
His staff is very kind.
He's just an all around nice guy! I am so glad I found him. He believes in having long term reltaionships with his patients and that is a A++++ in my book!!!
He gave me all the nitty gritty, ups and downs of the surgery. His bedside manner is just outstanding. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Jenkins.
I would send any of my friends or family to him. I look forward to him doing the surgery.
My first impression was a great one. He cut straight to the chase and answered all my questions about the surgery.
Dr. Jenkins is a wonderful man. Since I am coming in to his ofice from out of town (6+ hour drive) he and his assistant has gone out of their way to arrange sleeping quarters for my husband and to make all my pre-op appointments on the same day.
The entire staff at David Grant Medical Center was caring and helpful.
Dr. Jenkins has prepared his own handout that goes into detail about the surgery, risks, what to expect for weight loss, vitamin info and support group info. The hand out is easy to understand and helpful.
Overall I would say that on a scale of 1 -10, 10 being the best, Dr. Jenkins is a 20!! I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon in the world.
If you are considering Dr. Jenkins for your WLS, all I can say is, you are in the best care possible.
