My first impression of Dr Alston was that he was very calm and relaxed. He didn't get in a rush to tell me about the proceedure or to ask questions of me. He took his time, asked questions of me, and didn't mind at all when I asked questions of him. He was not impatient in anyway. He was very personable and friendly. His staff was just the same: friendly and immediately put me at ease. He was very forthright about what he expects regarding after care. The surgery risks were addressed in a video tape that we watched before actually meeting with him for the exam, after which we could ask questions. I fully believe I am making the right choice in a surgeon. (The only downside about this office is that he is extremely booked! I was at first told that my appt would be 5 months away for the first consult. But fortunately there was a cancellation and I was able to get in much sooner.)

I trusted Dr. Alston from the first time I met him on my consultation visit.. That's one thing you MUST have, trust in your surgeon. My impression of Dr. Alston has only gotten better over the months post-op.The office staff has been great and very supportive. Always helpful and eager when I call or stop by.Dr. Alston is very upfront with you in that this surgery is ONLY A TOOL, for you to work with. Aftercare is not an option, "I can't do...." is not in Dr. Alston's vocab.There is a risk with any surgery, as well as a risk with being morbidly obese... Take it at that...A+++++ overall rating... Surgical competence and his bedside manner are great...Now, my actual hospital stay itself wasn't that great, as in the nursing staff etc.... but it has been a very positive experience.. I believe Dr. Alston explained things in more detail to me and my husband , because we are both nurses... so of those things I would have been better off , not knowing...

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR ALSTON WAS VERY POSITIVE HE DID NOT RUSH ME AND ANSWERES ALL OF MY QUESTIONS.HIS OFFICE STAFF WAS VERRY HELPFUL TOO. I HAD ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS ONCE I LEFT THE OFFICE AND CALLED THEM AND THEY TOOK THE TIME TO GIVE ME THE ANSWERS.THERRE WAS NOTHING THAT I DID NOT LIKE ABOUT DR ALSTON. HE IS TRULY THE BEST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. HE TAKES TIME TO ADDRESS THE RISK OF THIS SURGERY AND GIVES YOU PLENTY OF READING MATERIAL FOR YOU TO LOOK OVER BEFORE SURGERY TO HELP ANSWER ANY MORE QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. HIS HAS GREAT BEDSIDE MANNER AND A GREAT AFTERCARE PROGRAM.

I wasnt sure if i like him or not He is not one to push you into this surgery he lets you make up your own mind .
Taking with him and his staff , they were very helpfully. He is very concerned about after care and you amintaining your lost wt.You ahve to watch a flim and read a book about the surgery so that he knows you fully understadn the surgery.

Dr. Alston is wonderful. He has a great bedside manner, and being a nurse myself that was very important to me. He performed me and my sister's surgery. We are both equally pleased with him and his work. I would recommend him to anyone. He stresses taking care of yourself which includes taking vitamins,exercise and eating right. He is not in this just for the money. He is in it because he cares and wants to help people. Although money isn't bad either.... As a matter of fact I am getting ready for him to do a Panniculectomy on me to remove my extra skin. Dr. Alston is the best.

It has been almost 5 years since my surgery. I cannot remember my first impression of Dr. Alston. However, If feel that he is an excellent surgeon. He was very professional and had a caring and soothing bedside manner. His staff provided me with mostly everything I needed to know about the surgery. The thing that was missing, in my opinion, was group therapy with other Pre-ops and post-ops. Aftercare was strongly emphasized. However, I feel that it would have helped, if the staff would have, after cancelling an appointment, made sure you were set up for another appointment. Overall I rate Dr. Alston 10/10 on both his surgical competence and bedside manner.

I spoke with Dr. Alston on March the 20. He was so wonderful and very informative. I am looking forward to having him for my surgeon.

DR Alston is a great doctor he did my surgery March 1995 and he explained every thing to me in great detail. his bedside manner was excelent. I would highly recomend him to any one that wants the weight loss surgery. any time I have a question all I have to do is pick up the phone and call. His nurse is very quick to help you also. I have lost 135lbs. I would have the surgery again with Dr. Alston if I had it to do all over again. His after care is excelent all so I had to move along ways away from him but I still am able to comunicate with him and his staff.
