Jerome Bray, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

'I have known Dr. Bray for most of my life. He was my father's and my mother's surgeon and he remembers them and my siblings still. Dr. Bray is an excellent surgeon and a very caring and spiritual person. Although I have had some complications since surgery 9 months ago

I was very pleased with Dr. Bray. He was very informative before surgery explaining the procedure, the risks, the outcome, etc.
During my hospital stay, after surgery, he came in at least twice a day to see how I was doing. My follow up visits have been great. I think he is a wonderful doctor and I would recommend him to everyone in the area who is thinking of having surgery. His nurse is very nice, once you get to know her. At first she seemed a little cool, but once you have been to the office a few times she is great to talk to, and is always concerned about how you are doing. I thank God everyday that my local doctor referred me to Dr. Bray.

My first impression of Dr Bray was a very good one. He seemed like a very nice man. Also very knowlegdable.

I don't particularly like his nurse Marchelle. She treated me like I didn't need to know anything. Wouldn't even tell me what pills she sent me in the mail to take before surgery. After 20 min of asking her she finally told me.

In the hospital, Dr. Bray was always pleasant. Stopped in twice a day. Always attentive to anything that happened since the last visit. Making sure to answer any questions. He would fish for questions.

He address the risks of surgurey extensively on the first visit. Then after that is always talking about what the rest of your life will be like.

So far I think he is a great Dr. As he says their dietary recomendations are "Conservative", but I don't think I would have it any other way. Their sucess rate is astronomical. He himself has had 5 very minor complications in 600 surgeries.

I think his surgical competence and bed side manner are both great.

After you leave the hospital, it is always easy to speak directly with him for any questions you have.

Dr. Jerome Bray is my godsend, my Angel. He did my surgery Apr, 19th,2000, I weighed 351 lbs, and was so sick I really dont think I would be here today if it wasnt for him, and my Family Prac. Dr, Duane Browning. They both took so much care of me and never let me give up. I love them both and may God Bless them both. Dr. Brays nurse was also the greatest person. She always had time for me and if I needed Dr. Bray she would get in contact with him immediately and Dr. Bray would get back to me within minutes. They are such wonderful people. They helped me get my life back on track. I am now 165 lbs, and still determined to reach my goal of 155. I WILL do it!!! God Bless all that helped me through this. I love you.

Being new to the area, a small town with not many plus size people, I was very nervous about seeing anyone about my problem. I felt that the Dr. would probly be thinking "this fat woman needs to just eat right and exercise" but to my surprise Dr. Bray was truly GOD sent. I have never in my life meet such a nice, kind, understanding professional, who with all of his kindness still gave me to the point accurate information about the surgery. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would rate him 100.

Dr. Bray was very helpful in answering all of the questions that I had. He is very caring about his patients and when I mentioned names of others that I knew he did surgery for, he knew who they were and they were not just a number to him. I believe he is to retire within the year. He will be greatly missed in this feild. The staff there is wonderful and very nice. I did not feel uncomfortable at all arounf the staff. The only thing negative I can say about my whole experience so far was that it takes a long time to get an appointment and it takes (so it seems) forever for them to call you back to just ask questions. But they do call you back and I do realize how busy they are.

9/12: 1 week pre-op appointment with him today. I am so much more at ease now about the whole thing. My boyfriend met him today and he likes him just as much as I do. He made all (well most) of my jitters go away. I know he takes great care in all his patients. Today, any and all questions or concerns we had, were answered and answered in the way anyone could understand. Thanks for being a great man Dr. Bray!

Dr Bray is the GREATEST!!! He was very informative and really put me at ease. HE always makes time for you. If I were to end up in the emergency room in the middle of the night, I KNOW I could ask them to call Dr. Bray in and he'd be there for me. There is nothing that I didn't like about him.
His staff is also great.I can walk back into his office area any time and ask them something, or just take a peek at the scale. Which I'm no longer afraid to step on and look at:).
He really stresses the after "do's" and "don'ts". He tells you exactly what to expect. (as he knows and has experienced)They have set up a Buddy By-Pass meeting group.Every gets together and supports each other before and after surgery. I haven't gone to one yet 'cuz my hours at work has prevented it, but I'm hoping to get to one soon!
Dr Bray has had alot of experience with this surgery. His wife is also a gastric by-pass patient.So he is very informative on this and has done MANY of these surgeries.
He always comes and talks to you before you go into the operating room and tries to calm some of your fears. His bedside manners are great. He is a very kind and compassionate person who believes in the power of god.
I know that not everyone has the same results and experiences with a doctor, but I can honestly say that I didn't have any problems with Dr Bray as my surgeon. Every person is different and will experience things differently through life.

DR. BRAY IS A VERY GOOD DR. HE HAS BEEN OUR FAMILY DR. FOR YEARS. HE TOOK CARE OF MY GRANDMA, MOM, AND MY SISTER, DR. BRAY PREFORMED THE BYPASS SURGERY ON HER AND SHE IS DOING GREAT. DR. BRAY IS VERY COCERNED ABOUT HIS PATIENTS AND ALWAYS HAS TIME TO EXPLAIN THINGS IN A WAY THAT YOU CAN UNDERSTAND. HIS NURSES ARE EVERY UNDERSTANDING AND WILLING TO HELP.

I really liked Dr. Bray
we talked for about an hour he explained everything in detail, he even drew pictures of a stomach to show me everything he does.
He explained everything about the after care of the surgery and told me how important it is to follow everything he has told me. He explained the risk of the surgery in detail and told me what needed to be done to keep from having complications.
I would recommend anyone who is thinking of using Dr. Bray to go and see him. In my book he rates a 10+
