Kerry L. Ozment M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

DR. Ozment is the absolout best he has been wonderful to me, and his staff is top shelf.
He has gone out of his way to help me and has done wonders for me he is gonna help me with a tummy tuck when he fixes my hernia. I would recomend him to anyone

I really liked Dr.Ozment alot and everyone at Doctors Hospital was very nice. The first and only visit I made to the office I remember them taking me to the back to weigh me and the scale was like a loading dock scale. I was mortified....how much longer before I would actually need a scale like that.......how much longer before the numbers that identified my weight were no longer accessible on a normal scale. That did it for me. I knew I was doing the right thing.
They really encouraged that you keep your follow up appointments and I am sorry to say that I did not. I went about my struggle alone and that's really the way it was. My mother kept telling me that I wasn't her daughter and others didn't even acknowledge that I had lost even a pound. It was an unhappy time for me. It should have been the most exciting thing to discover the world beyond a weight problem. I wish for anyone that ventures out to accomplish this feat has a good support system with family and friends and this web-site is a good source of motivation. I wish that I would have had a link to click on.

I was very impressed by my first meeting with Dr. Ozment. He requires that you attend a seminar before going through the approval process. He was relaxed but professional, confident but not arrogant. His office staff is out of this world. Madolyn and Judy are the best!!! He has a very structured aftercare program, complete with an on-staff nutritionist. He strongly emphasizes aftercare. Dr. Ozment was very thorough in addressing all risks of the surgery as well as the benefits. He covered the good, the bad and the ugly (can you say explosive diarrhea?) Overall, I would rate him as excellent. I only met him at the seminar, will post more after my consultation. He has twenty-five years of experience and 7500 bypasses under his belt so he should know his stuff. In the grand scheme of things I would definitely rate surgical competence as more important than bedside manner but it sure is nice to get both!!! I would just like to let everyone know that Dr. Ozment is NOT retired. However, he has limited his practice to gastric bypass surgery ONLY. He is an excellent surgeon. In 7500 procedures, he has never had a leak. I will update more after my surgery.

Dr. Ozment and his staff were terrific. He is a very caring Dr. with a wonderful bedside manner. He never made me feel my questions were inappropriate. He would take as much time with me each time I saw him as I needed. He fully explained the risks of surgery. If you have done any research on him, you know his surgical competence is impeckable. He also leaves a very thin scar, not that I am planning on wearing a bikini. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Ozment to anyone, anywhere... he would be worth the trip!

Dr. Ozment was the best. I have never met a physician, who after all the years of practicing, still has sure care and concern for his patients. He always had time to talk with me and my family during my surgery. I had some trapped air in the upper part of my back after surgery and Dr. Ozment kept apologizing for not being able to ease the pain for me--I had to walk to alleviate the pain which did subside. Once I was home I had to call him back one day and he was so patient and concerned for my well being. I work for a health care system and physician care and concern isn't often seen today. Thanks Dr. Ozment for who you are and what you do to make our lives so different. The office staff was wonderful and always returned your calls promptly--also something that doesn't occur today.

Thought he was great first time I met him made my appointment when surgery right then. I have felt he has been right there when I have needed him, can call anytime and he gets right back with me. I live 130 miles away, just wish he had of been my Dr. when I developed the blood clots, even though he wasn't in town he was happy to help me and the Drs. to insure I had the best care. His staff is great always eager to help. There really isn't anything I don't like about him. All was pretty great about him.

Dr. Ozment has been absolutely wonderful! I have not had my surgery yet. I am scheduled to have it done the Tuesday. So far, he has been a blessing. My first impression of him was that he knew EXACTLY what he was talking about and what he was doing. I found his name through about 6 months of research and just talking to people about this surgery. Everyone I talked have said that they wouldn't trust anyone else in Arkansas and I agree. His program is very detailed and precise. It starts off by calling the office (or looking on the internet) and signing up to attend one of his seminars. He gives them twice a month in his office and requires you to attend one before surgery. Once there, you fill out a questionnaire so that he can derive a medical history and compose a letter to your insurance company requesting a pre-approval. You are weighed and vitals are checked. Then, the seminar begins. He has a lecture prepared about the procedure and a slide show to show exactly what the surgery is about and how it is performed. He goes through every reason why you should have the procedure done, pre-op procedures, post-op procedures, aftercare methods, etc. His aftercare procedure includes a list of foods to eat (but liquid diet for first 6 weeks), a support group, vitamins, etc. He takes questions during the seminar and does not leave until he is absolutely sure all the questions have been answered. He has been in pratice since 1975 and has performed over 7500 procedures. He is a very nice, caring, and concerned doctor. I enjoy visiting and talking with him very much. His office staff is just as much a delite as he is. There are a couple of secretaries and a nutritionist that works in the Bariatric Center that are more than happy to help you in any way that they can. I give them all a FIVE STAR rating and am actually very excited about my upcoming surgery! Keep in mind as I mentioned above that I have not yet had my surgery and am just expressing my the details of my experience so far and the information that I have collected over a period of months. I will keep you up to date on my progress and my experience in the hospital next weekend when I get home.

My husband had surgery on May 8, 2001 by Dr. Ozement and I am scheduled for June 19, 2001. Dr. Ozement is a wonderful doctor. He has a great bedside manner. He answers all of the questions you have, now matter how silly they may sound. He is great. I would recommend him to anyone interested in having surgery. His office staff is also great. Madolyn and Judy are very helpful in obtaining all of the insurance documentation that is needed for this surgery.

I had originally planned to have Dr. Mark Gibbs as my surgeon. He is an excellent surgeon. He did my sister's surgery in July 1999. She is doing beautifully. My mother and I attended the seminar that is required before having surgery at this facility which was presented by Dr. Ozment. My mom was very concerned about the whole thing, but I talked her into going. She instantly decided that she would be more comfortable if Dr. Ozment would agree to do the surgery, and surprise, surprise...he did. I feel that I will be in very capable hands. I am sure that I would have been happy with Dr. Gibbs, but I am so excited that Dr. Ozment agreed to do my surgery. He only takes a limited number of patients, so I feel extremely privileged! He explained the surgery in detail along with the pros and cons. I am scheduled for surgery May 31. Wish me luck.
June 12-- I am getting over my surgery very well. I have lost 14lbs!! I am still very pleased with Dr. Ozment.
May 12, 2001--Almost a year now..I've lost 89 lbs. only 21 more to reach my goal!!

I was very impressed by Dr. Ozment at the seminar I attended in Little Rock, AR. When he first came in to the seminar, he was some what abrupt with some people who were talking in the back of the room. My first thought was... "My, but aren't we just a little snippy?" But as the next 30 minutes passed and I realized that it wasn't that he was being snippy, he is just the type of person who demands your full attention because he has something very important to say and this is very serious to him. I admired him from that moment on. He is the director of the Bariatric Center and that too impressed me. I figure that someone who has been doing this surgery for so long and a director as well, must be doing something right. The seminar was very detailed and I took many notes. I was very informed going into the seminar and Dr. Ozment confirmed all my research. This seminar was to tell you what to expect. He mentions aftercare, but not so indepth because he did not know how many people in the room were actually going to have the surgery. I have my one on one meeting with him 05/16/01. I will post more after that. He is certainly a person that I feel comfortable trusting my future and life with.
