My first impression of Dr. Trotter was and still is that he is a very conscientious physician and the skills to match. This comes from his success rate of performing laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery. He is very good at listening to my questions and explaining the answers that a non-medical person would be able to comprehend.

In his seminar, he addressed the risks of surgery, actually before surgery (risks of obesity, and the diseases that can develop because of it) and after surgery.

His office staff is very professional in manner, extremely helpful and pleasant.

Attending his seminar and in my initial consult, Dr. Trotter strongly emphasizes aftercare. Matter of fact, he says this process is just like a marriage and the surgery is just the beginning and the rest is the work necessary to keep things balanced--(or something like that--this isn't a direct quote from him; however, he did say something similar to this). I felt very assured that my aftercare of my surgery will be exactly what I need to live a much more productive life.

From what I have heard, and my thoughts with my husband's about Dr. Trotter is that he is a very competent, caring surgeon.

He seems great for he is for the individual and not for money or greed. I really liked him from the time I met him at the seminar. I have not got to meet him again yet, so as far as my impression changing over time----I will have to see when the time comes. I met a few of the staff and talked with them by phone and they seem to be very nice and sincere. There was nothing I have found that I don't like at this time and may never. He is very thorough in his profession and very intellegent. He is very nice and does what he thinks is right not what others think he should do. Do not know about the aftercare yet. But from what he has told us at his seminar I would say that he has a very structured aftercare program and I can't wait to get to know him and his staff better. He told everything good and bad about the surgery and he hid no information about. This, to me makes, him an exceptional Doctor already. Out of a 1 to 10 and 10 being the best I would rate him so far with a 10. I think that everything should count on how a Doctor is toward you in surgical competence and bedside manner they are both to me rated the same. And in my opinion both are very important to anyone going for surgery. Thanks for Listening and Have a Nice Day.

Dr. Trotter is very professional and is the driving force behind bariatric surgery here in Western South Dakota. He is very confident (a trait I like in a surgeon!); his comment to me during my last pre-op visit when were discussing whether the surgery could be preformed laproscopically was "if it can be done with a scope, I can do it!" I like that kind of attitude!<p>
His staff (Dar) is great at handling all of the paperwork and she also checks on us at home now and then (My wife had WLS on 2/26/02) and through Dar's hard work our insurance requirements have been seamless. <br>
Dr. Trotter is a busy surgeon and is often called to emergency surgery, so sometimes a wait during sceduled appts. can occur.<br>
Dr. Trotter has set up an amazing aftercare program with routine check-ups and monthly group support meetings (4th Monday at 5:30 PM) in his office area. He has everyone attend nutrition seminars and emphasizes proper nutrition and exercise.<br>
Dr. Trotter explained all of the risks of surgery and explained the procedure in depth. I think he is an exceptional surgeon and has a real interest in the well-being of his patients. He and Dar get 5 stars from me.. *****

Dr Lee Trotter is an exceptional man and surgeon! I knew him first in a professional role as I am an RN who spent 10 yrs in the ICU. When I first started investigating wls as an option for me, I was very concerned about long term management of the surgery. Dr Trotter put my mind at ease, not by his words (because words come and go) but by his actions. You must get a complete physical by your personal MD, attend a 3 hour lecture that Dr Trotter puts on, (that goes through health stats, surgery stats, nutritional needs, shows a video of the surgery), go to a psych evaluation, attend a support group meeting before surgery, attend a 2 hour nutrition class, get labs, chest x ray, and pulmonary function tests (to see what your lung capacity/function is for anesthesia), get a Body Index Analysis (this tells him how much of you is water, fat, and muscle, plus fill out an extensive history of yourself. When you see him in the office for the first time he goes through all results with you, discusses surgery risks in detail and spends as much time as you need answering questions. I was in his office for 1 hour and 35 minutes (and he didn't seem impatient or rushed either!) He is very detailed in every aspect of your care. He is emotionally suportive (he frequently shows up at our support group just to say hi) and pays attention to everything that is happening to you. He is a great communicator and has a great bedside manner. His comment frequently is "I have made a commitment to you for life." Dar (his nurse) compliments him perfectly! She is as kind, caring and competant as Dr Trotter is. Dr Trotter is a surgeon who offers his patients the total package, and he delivers what he offers!!

I am choosing Dr. Trotter because he has done a number of sucessful rny's, is very thorough about testing pre-op to be sure we are healthy, and because he has a very tight follow-up. He is very clear about post op nutrition requirements. He requires psych testing, nutrition class, and recommends the monthly support group. The patients I have spoken to who have had surgery with him are happy with it and had quick recoveries. Although I will be having open RNY to allow for some hernia repair, he also does lab rny's. Dr. gives a talk 2x/month about the surgery and addresses all risks, expected results, and answers questions.

Dr. Trotter's nurse, Dar, is very helpful and facilitates the monthly support group also. Both she and dr. have taken the time to learn alot about bariatric surgery.

I rate both Dar and Dr. high at this time...still pre-op.

I reate surgical competence highest.

I first met Dr. Trotter during a 3 hour seminar that he put on at his office. He seemed to be a truely down to earth person who cares about his patients. His staff is top notch as well. His nurse Dar is a sweetheart. She helped me immensely with all the pre-consult stuff. I finally got to go one on one with Dr. T during my consult on 5/15/02. He is a neat man to deal with, answered all my questions and has a good sense of humor. I have no doubt his attitude will continue post op.

I found Dr. Trotter & his staff to be very caring, organized and had a wonderful experience during my stay. The hospital staff was wonderful. Always there to help. I would highly recommend Dr. Trotter to anyone. He genuinely cares about the well being of his patient.
