When I first met with Dr. Liem and his staff, I was very impressed with the vast amount of knowledge. They are a warm and caring group of professionals. Dr. Liem has a seminar every second Monday of the month at the hospital that he does his surgery at and it is the most informative seminar I have ever attended. I brought my daughter in law with me as she is a RN and we asked questions and listened to past patients, and the doctor and his staff were very good at explaining all the pros and cons of this surgery. Aftercare is a big plus with Dr. Liem's plan. He is there for all his patients, past and present. He is more than a doctor, he becomes your best friend. Since I haven't had the surgery yet (still waiting for approval), I can't rate the actual operation experience. However, my friend had her surgery with Dr. Liem in February and she had only good things to report. And she is going to the aftercare classes as well as the nutrition classes.

Dr. Liem is just the nicest doctor around. He's very caring and willing to answer all your questions pre-op and post-op. I wouldn't have chose anyone else and I would recommend him to anyone who asked!

I thought Dr. Liem was kind. I really haven't had much conversation with him. He asked me if I had any questions and I didn't so he didn't really offer anything. His office staff was and is very kind. They are very helpful too. They have never made me feel like a bother. I have learned that Dr. Liem is an extremely cautious Dr. He had me repeat my clotting tests four days in row because they were on the low side of normal. He just didn't want to take any chances. The staff at preadmission talk very highly of him. He does have aftercare programs but I haven't attended any of them. I feel Dr Liem has both surgical competance and appropriate bedside manner. I would rate Dr. Liem highly overall.

My first impression of Dr. Liem was he had a kind way about him. He was informative and told me exactly what was going to be done. The staff is awesome. They are very busy all the time takeing care of people just like me that have a million and one questions, I don't know how they stay as calm as they do. If you call the office you may not get a warm fuzzy greeting because they are very busy all the time, but when you need them as I needed them crying one day, they always listen and give the best advice. If anyone wants to have this surgery each person has to make sure everything is in place and ask questions, you are not bothering anyone but you have to stay on top of everything. You can never have too much information. Always stay on top of every little detail even with the doctors office and the insurance company. Everyone make mistakes.

My first impression of Dr. and staff was a bunch of hustlers. That night went to support group at jfk med ctr. and found the staff and dr. to be very different than initial meeting. I have full confidence in the dr. and are going to have surgery by him. Will have more info about dr. and staff after 2/21.LOL, Horace

Dr. Liem and his staff are extremely supportive of their patients. Since my surgery, Dr. Liem had added on a nutritionist.
I like the fact that Dr. Liem had a background in neuro surgery and since he started doing gastric bypass surgery 22 years ago has thus far never lost a patient. In addition to stapling off the old stomach he also stitches it. He does the same with the new one to prevent leaks.
Dr. Liem is very approchable and his staff always makes you feel like family.
He sees you every three months after surgery or 4 times the first year and 2 times in the second year.
Dr. Liem has a support group for those about to have and/or have had surgery.
He was very clear about this surgery having risks and makes it very clear that you need to make sure that you are well able to handle surgery.
I found him and the hospital very supportive and have recommended Dr. Liem to several people who have selected him for their surgery. I was very lucky in that I had no adverse problems before during or after my surgery. I personally rate Dr. Liem very highly.

He is a very sweet gentle and kind man. He is wonderful at what he does and He really cares about each and everyone of his patients. He is a maticulas surgeon and He has never lost a patient! I would reccommend him to anyone interested I went 200 miles for him. Hey of course he is brilliant he is a Harvard Grad. I will have to find other aftercare because 200 miles is way too far for a weeknite.

Dr. Liem and his staff are very knowledgable and helpful. They have been very supportive from day one and I look forward to working with them through my surgery.I think that if you are in the South Florida area Dr. Liem is the best choice for surgery of this nature.

Well, I met w/ Dr. Liem today & I do have to agree that he seems very nice & competent, & he is quiet, which is okay. I wanted to write down questions to ask before I went but I never got the chance. Maria, Dr. Liem's nurse & office manager, went over so much w/ my sister & I that I felt like I didn't have anything to ask the surgeon once I saw him! All in all I do feel confident in having Dr. Liem as my surgeon. He's been performing obesity surgery since 1981. He seems very knowledgeable & experienced. He also went through his photo album of previous patients w/ us, which was very impressive.
***Post-Op***
All I have to say is Dr. Liem is a wonderful surgeon! Overall I feel his staff & his aftercare program leave room for improvement, but I also live just north of Orlando. It's possible that if I lived closer to the area I would feel differently. I haven't been able to attend any of his post-op support group meetings yet due to the distance. I have found a local group though. But I have had NO post-op problems whatsoever & I feel really great! No regrets! That in itself makes this all so worthwhile. I would recommend Dr. Liem 100%...

I am one huge fan of Dr. Liem and his entire staff. They all have been wonderful, my whole experience has been very positive. I have had a problem free recovery and feel like a new person. Dr.Liem is resposible for all of it. I would recommend him to anybody. I traveled from Broward County to WPB just to have him and I would do it again in a heartbeat...
