Dr. Eufrocino Martinez Bariatric Center

My husband and I both went through Dr. Martinez. We first went to a consultation where he explained EVERYTHING about the lapband...from complications to the diet required. We both had to do a 6 month supervised diet which was required by our insurance company but the New Reflections program director Jana did a 3 month fast track for us. It really made the approval process a breeze!!! Every time I call the office I get a warm, and very personal experience with the ladies there. Dr. Martinez is so knowledgable and he has done general surgery as well as 30 years of bariatric surgery so he REALLY knows what he is doing!!! I felt so safe in his hands! I really can't say enough great things about Dr. Martinez and his staff. I am so happy we found them on OH....because I wouldn't want any other surgeon!!!

rnThe first time that I met Dr. M, thought what a kind and concerning Dr. He discribed all that needed to be done and the pros and cons about the surgery. After our meeting knew that I would be in the best hands in all of Ca. There was nothing about him that I did not like. He is just awsome. Very caring about him patients.rnThe office staff is the best. I wanted to work there. Infact i did help out a few times, talking to the new patients and telling them about the program.rnThe office staff is caring and alwys there to answer your questions. Jana is there with you when you have surgery. My family is in Ohio, so I had noone there for support, but my friend, Jana. All the way to the opering room. To wipe the tears if you were scared, or to laugh at the little note I posted on me and she as there when I came ouat of surgery. rnThis medical group is so patient oriented, that in July they have a covered dish for ALL there patients. Yeah, fun and dancing. At christmas time they woud through a very Merry Christmas party that is toooo fun. Being in Ohio now I sure miss these parites. You get to see all your friends and meet and make new ones.rnThe Main thing with this surgery is you havea to follow the rules. Don't think what you what to do is right, he will get after you. And put you on the right track. Any little question on your mind is a right question to ask and they will get you the right answer. You should also go to the group meeting to learn how to eat and understand the changes in your body. Couse you will have alot of them and oh boy you will be sooooooo happy. I know I am. Lost 120 lbs in 2001 and I still have it off. Damn I look good. lolrnGood luck on your new adventure and IF you want a great DR> and staff and all the other Dr. that he works with. Give rnrnDr. Martinez a call you will jut love him too.rn

Dr. M have done over 1,000 cases of WLS since 1970. His rating is excellent that I was able to feel security while he performed the surgery on me. He is a wonderful man with great confidence. He knows his stuff. rnrnI'm deaf. He knows ABC's. I was able to understand him the minute I woke up from the surgery. He said \" M O R P H I N E IS COMING\" I was in extremely pain and he knew. rnrnHe is a wonderful man and answers every questions you may have. He explained everything you need to know even if you're not having LAP BAND or something like that. I only wanted gastric bypass but he explained about LAP BAND anyway to make sure you are still on the same page.rnrnIf I had to rate him 1 to 10. I would rate him 10+. rnrnrn(His people at the WLS program \"New Reflection Program\" in NOrwalk, CA are also WONDERFUL people. They're very friendly, gentle, kind, and list goes on.)rnrnI do not see anything negative as right now. I've had surgery 1 month 7 days ago and is doing wonderful. He was a phone call away when I woke up one morning in extremely pain due to kidney stone and Urinary Tract Infection. He could tell me to go to ER because the way I described the pain... where it was... etc....

Dr Martinez was sweet the first time i met him. He seemed concerned with my struggle to lose weight and was determined to help me build self confidence in myself prior to surgery.rnrnDr Martinez has some of the best office staff in the world. They are two of the sweetest most hardworking women i have ever met. They were on the phone with my insurance everytime they needed to be and even times they didnt to make sure that things were going the way that they needed to. When i was denied the first time his office staff was so very surprised they pushed my insurance company and grilled them like no other. They got my approval the very next day after sending in an appeal to my insurance company.rnrnDr Martinez was really straight forward with the risks and complications involving gastric bypass. However he reassured me that he would take the best care of me as possible and that i didnt have any reason to worry.rnrnDr Martinez has wonderful bedside manner, he shows concern and respect for his patients. He is more like family than just a surgeon. He makes sure that his patients are comfortable and well taken care of while in the hospital and after.

I interviewed several surgeons in my research prior to deciding on bypass surgery. I chose Dr. Martinez because he was honest, and obviously well trained. He emphacized the program as a whole, and what my role and resonsibilities would be, rather than making empty promises. He told me that surgery is a tool that I would use to create a healthy lifestyle. He told me that in order to be successful I would need to follow the prescribed post surgical program that included a liquid diet, gradually reintroducing soft and then normal food, in order to allow my new stomach to heal. He also required me to walk each day, beginning during my post surgical hospital stay. He answered all my questions patiently and never made me feel rushed or pressured to make a decision. He invited me to attend his patient support group meetings to meet current patients and hear their stories. Every patient at the support group had wonderful things to say about Dr. Martinez. I also personally knew three of his patients, and each of them highly recommended him.
Dr. Martinez impressed me immediately as extremely knowledgeable, supportive and caring. He remains to this day one of the people I most admire. He is generous, kind, and helpful and embraces each and every patient with the same empathy and caring. He is always honest, but never rude or critical. He is, by far, the best physician I have ever had. His follow up care was as thorough and caring as the pre-operative and post-operative care, and I still see him once a year.
Dr. Martinez' office manager, Jana, is also wonderfully suited to her job. She is friendly, caring, sincere, empathetic and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She listens patiently to each patient and makes time for everyone in her hectic days. She and Dr. Martinez work well together and make an exceptional team. Jana knows the insurance requirements for surgery and was instrumental in securing insurance coverage for me through my carrier.
Dr. Martinez has an ongoing support group that meets regularly, which proves so helpful to new and post operative patients. At the support group meetings "experienced" patients offer support and answer questions for pre-operative patients. This was very helpful to me prior to surgery. I wanted to know what to expect including a realistic picture of side effects and discomfort. So many patients offered their phone numbers and email addresses and told me to call them anytime. I have done the same for other patients, and many of us have even visited patients while they are in the hospital.
Dr. Martinez and the New Reflections program are in my opinion the perfect combination of wonderful, responsive bedside manner, extreme skill and competence coupled with honest guidance. I cannot speak highly enough about this program and how it has changed my life.
I have been heavy all my life, and never imagined that I could one day live in a thin body and feel "normal." On November 15, 1999, I weighed 287 pounds prior to surgery. I lost over 100 pounds within the first year after surgery. I stabilized at around 170 pounds, and stayed at that weight for several months. Then I began to feel my body crave more exercise and as I began to exercise more (and enjoy it!) I lost more weight. I lost an additional 25-30 pounds over the next 6 months, and my weight has remained constant at 142-145 ever since. I was a size 24/26 prior to surgery in 1999. Today, I wear a size 4 or 6, although I have several pairs of slacks in size 2!!!
My best advice to any prospective patient is to thoroughly research the surgery, talk to patients, doctors and health care professionals. Ask questions and then ask more questions. Be sure you are comfortable with what ever procedure you choose, know what your role will be in your recovery, and be willing to take responsibility for your health and your fate and enjoy your life. You are your own best advocate. Dr. Martinez is, in my opinion, the best surgeon.

I was really bless to meet some of his patients in the waiting room before I officially met him. I just listened to gain more knowledge about Dr. Martinez. When I first met him my first impression of Dr. Martinez, was that he was down to earth, knowleable, and was willing to answer any questions that I had.
His staff is very helpful. After speaking to Doctor Martinez, he express that during this type of surgery I could loose blood and that I had a choice to use my own blood prior to the surgery or use the blood banks. Of course I want to use my own, so they have assisted me in accomplishing that goal. I have a two dates to give my own blood(Nov. & Dec.)
Dr. Martinez express the overall risks of surgery very well. Presently I would rate him as a 8.
