Great first impression. I felt like I was meeting a celebrity. He took the time to explain the procedure and related risks.rnrnMy day of testing was a bit daunting as I was from out of town and trying to find my way around the city took a bit of time but I got to all my appointments pretty much on time.rnrnMy only suggestion to those coming from out of town -- you may want to think about staying overnight in Montreal the night before any appointments because coming into the city during rush hour traffic was chaotic and quite frankly, a bit scary.
From our very first e-mail communication I have had nothing but positive interactions with Dr. Christou. When I was just doing my research I sent him an e-mail with some general questions. He answered me right away and was very patient and friendly. I have also had a chance to observe him interacting with some of his other patients at his office and he treats everyone with such warmth and kindness. I can only say the same thing about all of the other staff. I was treated like family by everyone.rnUnfortunately, after the surgery things changed a great deal. Both my GP and myself are having great difficulty to reach anyone from Dr. Christou's staff. My doctor tried to contact the nurse clinician to ask some questions, they were never fully answered. I have also had great difficulty getting through to the staff, or getting any of my questions answered. I cannot help, but begin to feel that once they were paid, I seized to be of any importance whatsoever and am left to deal with my recovery without any further help form my own surgeon. but of course, as I was prompted to state by the legal department, this is only my own personal opinion, based on my own, personal experience and other person's experiences may differ. (Even though I am aware of other patients of Dr. Christou mentioning similar things.)

Very nice and easy to talk to surgeon!rnHis office staff are great!rnHis bedside manner and surgical competance are both great :)rnNo complications at any stage for me with this doctor and his staff :)
The first time I met Dr. Christou, he was very soft spoken and very knowledgeable about the procedure, RNY Gastric Bypass, and also I was infored by Dr. Christou that i was able to have the surgery Lapriscopically done, which is great. I hope that when it get closer to the srugery date I will have more info. But now I just want to be healthy. I had my surgery on July 19th and it was a full success, I am losing my weight slowly but I am losing, The staff during my surgery were really nice and they calmed me down, I was a basket sace before surgery, But now I am out 1 month and I feel much better, thanks to Dr. Christou and his wonderful OR Staff. I am learning new things about my self and eating a new way. ITs been a winding ride since but it has been a good way better than being 290lbs - now I am 260lbs and my BMI is 60.4, that is the best thing every.... THANK YOU DR CHRISTOU... for giving me my NEW LIFE....
My first impression was , he is a very nice and calm Doctor, he explains things so we can understand correctly , and he loves all his patients.rnWell now the office staff is very very nice and they all are so comprehensif , rnthat he takes care of every one of his patients equaly.rnthey see that we show up at our appointments and they ask lots of question that we wouldnt think of asking ourselfs.rnyes he does have an after structured program and it helps a great deal.rnhe read the book and showed me everything i needed to know.rn100% best doctor for this type of surgery.rnrn
'Dr Christou is an experienced and talented bariatric surgeon and strikes me as a very caring person. When I first met him for my initial consult
On a hot and humid day, I made my way to a downtown office where I was greeted by friendly staff who passed glasses of cold water to those waiting to meet the doctor.
After two hours waiting in a hot humid corridor, I was finally called in to meet the famous Dr. Christou I have heard so much about. I had met many people at a support group meeting I began attending every month. All had good things to say about him.
Anyways, he was soft spoken while explaining all the different weight loss surgeries he would be able to do on me - especially the risk factors. He emphasized the risk factors so much that he blew me away, and I'd been researching WLS and knew every possible complication possible but his insistence that it wasn't a simple thing and that I had to be sure I wanted this, etc...was mindblowing.
He confirmed that I was a good candidate for all of them and whichever one I finally would chose, it would most probably be done laparascopically. I was happy to hear that.
He definitely emphasized the important of aftercare which was extremely important to me.
I am looking forward to the day I have my surgery and that my life will change in a healthier way. Once I see his work, meet more of his staff, see his aftercare program, etc... will I be able to speak about him more indepth. Til then...wish me luck!!! :)
