Northside Hospital of Atlanta Bariatric Center

When I decided to have the RnY WLS I asked for surgeon recommendation from the friends I knew that had the surgery before. I went to two seminars. The first one was in Decatur, very crowded and affliated with Dekalb Medical Center. The second was at Northside/Forsyth with Dr. Johnson. The seminars were the same and everyone loves their doctor. So in the end, my decision was ultimately determined by the staff and the facility. Dr. Johnsons's staff and Northside Hospital are far superior to the other options.
The best recommendation I can give Dr. Johnson comes from the result. My surgery went wonderfully and I have not had any complications. The only way I can tell I've had surgery at all is from the weight loss and my body's reaction to sugar! I highly recommend Dr. Johnson.

I first met Dr. Johnson at an informational seminal on 9/26/11. I also met nurse Paula and Patient Advocate Susie that night. I had been thinking about having this surgery for years, but kept on telling myself that I could lose the weight on my own: big denial. Although Dr. Johnson does look very young, I read reviews and listened to others who were at the seminar who had surgery done by him, and gave him glowing reviews. I then scheduled a first office visit with Dr. Johnson and he was very down to earth and point-blank about the relationship between health and weight. I decided that I had nothing to lose except weight, and actually had surgery a couple of days ago on 12/05/11. Although Dr. Johnson is in high demand a busy surgeon, he provided one-on-one time to address any concerns I had, any fears, and called me after surgery after I felt something may not have been right at home. I would recommend Dr. Johnson to anyone that wants a Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Hart is a wonderful surgeon - the BEST! My surgery date was July 27, 2011 (Gastric Bypass). I was nervous, but the staff at Atlanta Bariatrics helped me through each step. Dr. Hart has a wonderful reputation for being the best at what he does! I knew he was the surgeon to perform my weight loss surgery. You will not find a more dedicated, professional staff! I have lost 50 pounds (11 weeks post-op). I still have much more to lose, but I know Dr. Hart's team will be with me, to support me, through this journey! "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!" Eventhough I am not "skinny" I love this saying! It just took me a while to realize it! Tricia Giles (Buford, Ga)

Selecting Dr. Williams as my bariatric surgeon was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Dr. Williams (and staff) has held my hand the entire time, answering all my questions and providing encouragement as I adjust to my new lifestyle. He and his staff are extremely accessible and take the time to make you feel like an individual rather than a number. Janet, the on-staff nurse, has been my voice of reason over the last 9 months and often calls to check up on me. I am 9 months post-op and have lost 115 lbs. I've gone from a size 22 to a size 10, reducing and/or eliminating medications as I go. Each time I see Dr. Williams and members of his practice they cheer me on and make me feel even better about the decision I was already overjoyed about!

Dr. Proctor (Jr.--his father is also a surgeon) is great. He is such a down to earth, positive person. He was very supportive through a surgical complication and I always feel better and more optimistic after seeing him. His practice is great and very holistic, always emphasizing the importance of support and nutrition counseling. Even though they sell some products, they do not push them and had plenty of suggestions for other products that might be less expensive for tighter budgets. Though their rates might be a little higher than some for self-pay patients, it's worth every penny for the quality of care!
