I was impressed with him his nurses and office staff. I did not have a long wait, only about 15 minutes, he was willing to answer any questions I had, and said if I had any questions after I got home to call back and they would answer them. He told my husband and me all about the risks of this surgery, how many of these surgeries he has done and how many fatalities he had

I have been impressed with Dr. Siegert from the start.. He is very professional, has a long standing career of expertise, and is a kind man.. He is very precise in the care before and after surgery.. He is certainly by the book.. But, I like that.. He spoke to me about risks, my past medical history, and answers any questions that I have.. I have worked as a RN for 20 yrs, 15yrs of those years in the operating room.. I would recommend Dr. Siegert and his staff to anyone and I will certainly use his services for myself as needed..

I thought that Dr. Siegert was very straight and to the point. He talked to my husband and I and asked us to ask any questions and gave us good answers.

I had my surgery on March 11,2002. I am now recovering from peripheral neuropathy, a condition I was not told about. This condition could have been avoided if I was told about it in the beginning or if Dr. Siegert or his nurses would have talked to each other about my numerous phone calls telling of my symptoms. I felt that I was basically being passed off on to my family doctor who did not know what to do with me. I was in contact with Siegerts office several times with one of the last times I called the nurse told me that everything was fine. I took her word. I ended up spending my summer in three different hospitals. I was unable to walk, bath, go to the bathroom, etc. by myself for 4 months. I was in a wheelchair until Jan. 2003.

I hope that Siegert is now telling his patients about this condition learning from my situation. When I was in the hospital I contacted a friend the support group to ask her if she knew of this condition, and she did not. I then asked her to ask the other members if they were told and they were not either.

I am very angrey about this. My weight loss was on hold for awhile due to not being able to walk in addition to all of the nerve medicines that I was on. I am now starting to walk again with braces on both of my legs. The braces will only be temporary until my nerves grow back which could take up to 2 years. I am unable to work, and the emotional and physical stress is a lot to bear. My family have been put through hell. I would like to hear any comments or questions that you might have. Please feel free to contact me.

Tank you for listening and good luck and God bless to all who are still waiting for their surgery dates and for those who are post-op.

Sincerely Yours,
Carey Derr

Dr Siegert is very nice, my first impression of him was that he seemed very sincere.

My opinion has not changed at all but he hasn't cut me yet lol.

Office staff seems very nice and friendly.

They told me that success is helped by good follow up with your appointments.

You meet with a dietician a few times after surgery and they have a support group that meets at Trinity once a month for people who have had or are having surgery.

Yes he gave me the good the bad and the ugly.

I give him 10/10

It took FOREVER to even get into his office. And when I had my first appoiment I had to wait 30 to 45 minutes to even see the doctor. And with the amout of procedures he does he did't even have a digital scale (regular won't work for me). All of his staff seemed very nice and got the approval letter off FAST. On my first visit the doctor was very througho in explaining everything. But I am told this will change. And he could't stress enough that this is major surgery.

Well so far it's been 2 weeks post op and I had 1/2 of my staples removed lat week. While the doctor was in I had a few questions about my diet and a test he had done on my liver. I had asked the nurse up-front about this and she even laid it on top for him. But when he arrived he was in such a hurry he almost could't find the test results and was in and out in about 10 mins. So far it's been how they say he is, takes his time before the surgery and rushes afterward.

I had a doctor referral in Jan. 2002, and they had scheduled a consultation for July 1st. I was upset at the wait time to even get in to talk to the doctor. Then I got a call mid March to move my appointment up, I jumped at the chance! My husband and I met with Dr. Siegert for the first time on April 11, 2002. My first impression of him was that he seemed very nice and concerned about my health before and after the surgery. His office staff all seemed to be very personable. I was a little nervous going to my first appointment because I had heard that the doctor wasn't very friendly, and I told my husband what I had heard before hand. When we left my husband said "whoever told you he wasn't nice, must have been having a very bad day or something." So now im in the hurry up and wait on insurance phase.... yeah!

I feel that considering that when I was referred to Dr. Siegert in Jan and was given a first appointment date of JULY 16 and now I am scheduled to have my surgery on May 20!!!! That his staff has went above and beyond the call of duty to help me get in earlier. What happens is that when you are given the first appointment date you have 2 weeks form that time to go to his office and pick up your info packet. Only then is your date "inked in" and at that time you are asked to verify that they have all the correct contact information. And then they will ask you if they happen to have a cancellation if you would like for them to call you, needless to say I said yes and then gave them my cell phone number. And that is how I managed to get in earlier.

My first impression of Dr. Siegert was that he was very rushed but he came in the room and sat down and took his time to answer all my questions. The only reason I knew he was rushed is because I heard him outside my door state that he had a call coming in that he needed to take and was concerned that he would not have the time. I liked the fact that he sat in a chair and maintained eye contact (a big thing for me)
with me. His office was full & there was a bit of a wait. Dr. Siegert is very short & to the point. He was very honest about the pro & cons of this WLS. I asked if he does the lapro... procedure and he stated that he does not and that there is only one other doctor that does offer that in my area, but that my insurance would not cover that Dr. I feel that Dr. Siegert is very good and therefore it is necessary for him to be "short" with the
first visit. My second visit consisted of him examining me. He had a nurse present, which made me very relaxed. He addressed a few concerns that I need to address and asked me to loss 10 pounds in the next month as I had actually gain that much in the last month....grrrr...

My first visit w/ Dr. Siegert was on 1/4/02. I was very impressed w/ him. He was very "short, sweet & to the point". He explained everything about the surgery to me, but I have done so much research most of it I already had learned. His office staff was very nice also.

I am having my surgery done by a new Associate of Dr. Siegert's group. Her name is Dr. McFarlin. She completed her internship in Gastric Bypass surgery at the Mayo Clinic in MN. no doubt. All of the surgeries are performed by her and Dr. Siegert assists. I am told he may retire soon since he is 60 years old and she would have a good following left to her. She is very personable and comforting. I liked her alot.
She is very informative about the surgery and doesn't beat around the bush.
P.S. She is very tiny, petite, and beautiful not what I expected.
The group now has a Support Meeting set up on the 4th Monday of every month at the Trinity Hospital on John Deere Road run by one of Dr. Siegert's patient. She also is a nurse in the recovery room at the hospital.

That he was very easy to talk to. I didn't feel rushed and I felt very comfortable asking questions.

His office staff seems to be fine. I was so sick for the first post-op visit that they worked me in ahead of four people. I've never done this before in my life and felt bad for the people waiting...they must of saw the look of death on my face to have done this for me!!

I found that the first vist with Dr. Siegert was very comfortable. That impression changed after my surgery,he now seems RUSHED RUSHED RUSHED!!

My personal impression of the "Nutritionist", seem to be very negative...she spent approx 10 min. and reaked of ATTITUDE!! Not sure I'll even go back to her for my last two vists. If I can see someone else I would, but I'm told she's the only one for my location. I'll have to check it out. I have no desire to ever see her again.
