Randall G. Cook, M.D., P.C. Bariatric Center

DR COOK WAS GREAT HE TALKED WITH ME FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. HE WAS VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD AND VERY UNDERSTANDING. HE ALSO MADE ALOT OF TIME FOR ME AND THAT IS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE NEVER SEEN. I WORK IN HEALTH CARE AND THAT IS HARD TO FIND THESE DAYS. THE OFFICE STAFF ARE VERY skinny, BUT THEY TREAT YOU THEY WAY YOU DESERVE TO BE TREATY. DR COOK ONLY OFFERS THE SURGERY OPEN FOR NOW.EVEN THOUGH PEOPLE ARE SCARED TO GET THE SURGERY DONE IN MONTGOMERY AND THEY WOULD RATHER GO TO BIRMINGHAM, I WOULD TALK WITH DR COOK, HE HAS BEEN DOING THIS SURGERY FOR ULCERS FOR YEARS. HE EXPLAINED ALL THE RISK OF THE SURGERY AND COMPARED THEM TO BEING OVERWEIGHT.

My first impression of Dr Cook, was that he is a very intelligent, caring man who is very much educated in dealing with bariatric surgery. He made me feel so at ease, and put me at ease in many areas in which I am so very nervous and anxious about. He was very open about the risks involved with the surgery, and also about the risks involved in remaining morbidly obese. I was very pleased with this initial consult, and at this point would very highly recommend him to anyone else seeking this surgery.

My initial impression was quite good. He was soft spoken, yet approachable. His office is small -- he has two nurses, both of whom have been helpful so far. Currently (July 2002), Dr Cook is only performing this surgery open, which is the only negative I have to offer right now. My surgery is scheduled for July 17. He plans to offer the lap procedure in the next year. Weight Loss Surgery is new to Montgomery; most procedures in Alabama have been done in Birmingham/Alabaster and Mobile.
