Funny, but first impressions are always so superficial. My first thoughts were (because I'd seen his picture on the web) he's shorter then I thought and cuter then I thought. Ridiculous really. What's that got to do with anything but hey you asked for first impressions. As we talked I got the impression that this man was probably brilliant. He was very thorough about what the surgery entailed and what I could expect and what he expected of me. I felt he was honest and caring and not overbearing. He was polite, respectful, and considerate. He was also obviously very much in demand and very busy but he didn't let that get in the way of seeing to my needs even though he was called out of his office twice during our interview. He was very courteous to his staff and you could tell they had a good working relationship. The staff was outstanding in every way. I felt very comfortable in the office and interacting with the staff.rnWhat did I like least about him? Hmmm. Well, I wouldn't say I disliked anything about him but I know that if I hadn't researched and learned all I could myself about the surgery before hand I don't think I could have kept up with him. He talks very fast and gave me a huge amount of information in a very short period of time. He did answer all my questions in a relaxed manner, going over risks and their percentages, aftercare, pain control etc. Before I saw him his nurse went over pre-hospitalization readiness, day before, day of, and days following as well as answering any questions. What she couldn't answer (which wasn't much) she encouraged me to ask the Doctor. Aftercare is structured and clear with lots of support. Very complete information. I feel very confident in him and his staff. I know I will get good care from this doctor.
1st step, approved from OHIP in less than 2 weeks!rn2nd step, meeting with Dr. Fitzer on Apr 25. Met with staff and Surgeon. First of all, waited so long for this app't. Phoned the day before to confirm, they never put my app't in his schedule. So, little frustrated. Having booked the day off from work, losing a day's pay. They luckily fit me in for 3:30. The nurse Michelle was wonderful, answered most of my questions, helped me feel at ease. Dr. Fitzer seemed knowledged and told me more than I already knew. And I studied! Surgery date: June 24.
My first impression of him was wonderful. He made me feel comfortable. He never once made me feel like a failure about my weight. His office staff was great also. I had issues with my insurance and they went right to work on it to get it resolved. All and all they were jut awesome. rnI have my check up soon and will let you know about his after care programs.
I loved my surgeon from the moment I met him. High energy, positive, smart (looking at the documents on his wall anyway !), and importantly up-to-date on latest (I knew this too from checking out the frames on the wall!).rnI wanted/like a doctor who is high energy, enthusiastic, knowedgeable, and a good teacher. Dr Fitzer was all those and more. He took all the time I wanted and answered every question I had (some more than once!!).rnI would recommend him to anyone considering this surgery.
Dr. Fitzer is very down to earth and extremely easy to talk with, his bedside manner was wonderful. He answered all of my questions and I didn't feel like Iwas just a patient or a number, he made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I would recommend anyone looking into this procedure, to look into Dr. Fitzer. The girls in the office were also very helpful , I think I called about a dozen times with questions after surgery and they were extremely helpful. Overall I would give this office the highest raring possible.
I've met with Dr. Fitzer recently and I'm very confident in him. He really took his time with me and answered some well aimed questions (thank you to the internet and info I was armed with) with ease...and slight surprise. His whole group is wonderful and I'm looking forward to talking to him again.
