robert spector, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

I have worked with Dr. Spector (I am a nurse) and have the utmost confidence in him and his work. He cares about his patients as people as well as being their healthcare provider.
His office staff was extremely helpful. They let me know exactly what I needed to provide and the process of insurance approval was very streamlined. I was approved within 2 weeks!
Dr. Spector is very honest and upfront about all the risk and benefits of surgery. He doesn't sugar coat the facts, but gives you the information you need to make an informed decision. He and his staff are available to answer any questions throughout the preparation process.
Their program is very structured both before and after surgery. They offer you all kinds of support but the hard work for results is up to you.
I would rate him as the best....I'll let you know more after my surgery, which is scheduled for July.

Dr. Spector is a genuine delight. A very smart surgeon who details everything. His staff is courteous and very helpful. He is a well respected general surgeon in Norman, OK and I would highly recommend him for other WLS patients. The Norman Bariatric program is very helpful before and after. They detail everything in their "Bible" for bariatric patients. He would rate as a 12 on a scale of 1-10!! Absoulutely fabulous! Thanks so much
Dr. Spector.

I had my first consult with Dr. Spector on Tuesday Feb. 25th 2003 and was very impressed. I had seen him during the seminar and thought he was a stern old man.
He is straight forward and caring in person. I enjoyed our visit and look forward to a well know surgeon doing my lap rny. He has been in Gastric surgrys for many years and RNY's for little over a year and still does "normal" surgerys as well.

I have not met with Dr. Spector or Dr. Keith as of yet. Have a call in to make an appt. as of this morning, 11/18/02. Waiting on someone to return my call. I have heard good things about both of these doctors, from their patients and also from my OB/GYN doctor who suggested I see them also. Can't wait to talk with them and get everything started.

Dr. Spector was very gracious and informative. He stated facts and backed them up with documentation. He shared his training and experience in this type of surgery.
Overtime I gained even more respect for his understanding and how he has developed this bariatric center in Norman with Dr. Keith.
Office staff was great.
The Bariatric Program with Norman Regional Hospital is very structured. They offer seminars and support groups. The risks of surgery are discussed with each professional that I dealt with.
After being accecpted as a candidate, you go through many tests.
Echocardiogram, Pulmonary Function, Visit with a dietician, a physical therapist, a psych exam (not only does he evaluate you for surgery he offers coping skills and
suggestions for after surgery.
In a Education Class, I met with a Pharmacist, the pre-op nurse and the post-op nurse who let us know step by step what would happen. Also a respitory therapist who explained the use and/or need for oxygen after surgery.
Dr. Spector was compasionate and easy to talk to about my weight loss program. He was "matter of fact" about all issue and this gave me confidence in what to expect.
No guarantee, no promises. He would do his job and I would do mine. He would offer assistance and advise but I had to put the effort in. After surgery he was very positive about everything. He wanted to make sure I was comforable and reinforced what I needed to do to suceed.
