Dr. Griffey is wonderful. He appears to be a dedicated, caring surgeon who honestly wants to make sure that his patients end up being as healthy as possible. He made me feel comfortable about my decision, helped me establish realistic goals, and answered every question I had without making me feel that I was keeping him from something else. His office staff is great. They are with you every step of the way to make sure that everything goes well. I would recommend that anyone thinking of this surgery in the Massachusetts area to consider him.

I've met with Dr. Griffey once. He seems wonderful and I've heard nothing but good about him.
My surgery was approved in exactly one week from the date of request.
Thanks to this site I was well prepared with a letter stating why I thought I would be a good candidate for this surgery-Thank you!
April 9th, just around the corner-Yippee!
I'll post more on the surgeon AFTER surgery!
4/19/03 10 days post op, Dr. Griffey was the best surgeon in the world (and only one I've encountered) he has the face of an angel.
His Assistant Chris was very friendly and helpful in all my medical needs and Peg his bookkeeper was always on top of that situation, all having friendly manners.

I liked him right away! He was very friendly. He didn't look at me with that disgusted look in his eyes! ( you know what i mean!) He explained everything to me, includeing the risks! I feel very comfortable with him, and his staff!

He was great before & after surgery! He has a great bedside manner, and is a very caring Doctor! He is really down to earth!

My surgeon is awesome..He takes the time to answer my questions and even returned my call on a Saturday night. I feel comfortable asking him anything. He is real straight forward and I like and respect that.

I have had a hernia removal by Dr. Griffey in 1999. I just loved him then, and saught him out to do my open RNY.
The office staff is exceptional. All are caring and sincere.
Dr. Griffey has admitted that in the past he looked at weight loss as a "willpower" problem, but through time has come to understand it is a far more reaching problem than that. He has met several intelligent, beautiful people, and has a respect for each one. I can sense this with him.
Aftercare for all surgery types is extreemly important. My personal care will invilve a nutritional visit 13 days post surgery. I will then be followed up with him or his nurse practitioner, Chris. Aftercare is important to the entire team, and I am part of this team. It is a major surgery, not to taken lightly, as death (although a 1% risk) cou be a possibility. Complications can always arise, yet I knew he was very serious when he looked me in the eyes and said, "but I believe the risk of your remaining in this morbidly obese state is far greater..." I believed him, and as a result, my surgery is Jan. 2, 2002.
