Dr. Thies was great. He was very informative about this procedure and had a great bed side manner. He was there for me the entire time. He checked on me twice a day untill check out.
His office staff is also very good. They have everything that you need there.
Again Dr. Thies surgical competence as well as bedside manner were great! I would recommend his program to anyone that is thinking about this operation.

Dr. Theis is very professional and knowledgeable in the field of bariatric surgery. He was consistant in his care and was very influential in my descision. His office staff was excellant. The patient coordinator, Rhonda was such a valuable resource. She had already gone through the experience of weightloss surgery. The cost of the program was ver much out of my budget. The program offered by "Surgical Weightloss Solutions, LLC" is wonderful. Through a six week pre-op program we addressed behavioral issues that drive us to over-eat. Post-op seminars last for 12 weeks. They are also very impressive. Dr. Theis provided me with all the necessary information prior to surgery. The program was very convient because the nutritionist and therapist worked right out of his office. I give Dr. Theis a superior rating. Both were great.

I really liked Dr.Thies the first time I met him. He is very knowledgeable and explains the surgery in detail. He lets you know what he expects of you before and after surgery. Office staff has been very helpful, especially Margaret. She always returns my phone calls promptly.

I really liked Dr. Thies when I first met him. He is very straight forward and answers all questions. I have never been to him and him not ask how was everything going and if I had any problems, questions or concerns. The only thing that I did not like about Dr. T was during the initial consultation...he was less personable than later visits. I just chalked that up to him seeing numerous people about this surgery and never seeing them again.

I respect him and think he is good at what he does. He made me feel very comfortable. As a big person, sometimes Dr.'s make me uncomforatble. I feel that there is nothing I can't tell him or talk to him about.

The staff was great. Everyone in the office is wonderful. I have never had any problems with the staff. About once a month I go there to weigh and they are always very nice and considerate. I did have trouble with getting everything together to file my insurance, but that was not Dr. T's offices fault. It was other Dr.'s offices that would not send the information to them!

I received very good aftercare from Dr. T. He checked on me daily while I was in the hospital. Before his day off, he reminded me that he would not be there and told me who would check up on me.

Prior to my initial consultation, I received a packet explaining EVERYTHING, even drawings showing exactly what the surgery looked like. The information his office sent me contained all the risks and complications. All this was explained again by him during our initial consultation. I expressed a big concern about blood clots and he explained the procedures that they do to help prevent them. He explained my BMI and how much weight I was expected to loose. He was very encouraging stating that he thought I would do well and probably loose more than he figured. The most important thing is to do what they say. Meaning follow the guidelines they set for diet and exercise.

I think Dr. T is surgically comptent and had a good beside manner.

Well, I waited several months to write this because my I was actually looking for something bad to say about my Doctor and his staff. For those who like inside scoop gossip, this review is going to be boring because there is nothing bad to say! My first impression of Doctor Thies was just what I had hoped for, he came in and gave a good, firm hand shake. I have actually changed family doctors in the past because of whimpy hand shakes, this was extremely important to me. Maybe it's just a guy thing, but I feel that a firm hand shake from someone shows a certain confidence level and also shows that me that I don't intimidate them. That's what I wanted from my doctor - confidence, no intimidation, and skill! His office staff is the absolute best, always nice, all my appointments have even been on time with no waiting! I wish I had his nurses while I was in the hospital! Dr. Thies also offers much information and is extremely receptive to the questions and concerns one may have. Nothing he says is candy-coated, as this is a major operation with certain risks and problems can and do occasionally occur. He stresses this point and applies no pressure, you are given the facts and the decision is yours. Day of Surgery - I did see Dr. Thies the morning of the surgery, but vagely remember the visit due to the kewl drug given to me! (I only remember him coming in after my mom reminded me). He was there shortly after I woke up in recovery room to check me out, stayed in constant communication with my family, and visited me every morning and evening while I was in the hospital. His bed-side manner is as good as his surgical skills, I feel so lucky to have such a great doctor! I wish I had some negative things to say so this doesn't seem like a B.S. post, but I don't ... sorry! If you want negative, read about my treatment when I got to my regular room!

There's my boring review, I have to give my Doctor and his staff an 11 out of 10! If you chose Doctor Thies as your doctor, feel assured that you have picked a very skilled surgeon that will bend over backwards to make sure things go well. I can't say enough good stuff about him, he is the best!

Dr. Thies is incredible!!!! When I first met with Dr. T, I, like many others, was impressed with his knowledge, his very thorough approach to this surgery and his dedication in letting his patients know the entire process and his expectations... I would definately say to anyone getting ready to meet with him to make sure that they had done their research and are not going into this surgery blindly.. He appreciates patients who have a willingness. On the day of my surgery, he was calm, and relaxed and very very reassuring... As I was in recovery, he went over the details with my family and was generally wonderful. He visited daily and was pleased that I was making a sincere effort to walk and follow his instructions. I did develop a complication and had to be re-operated on 4 days after my initial surgery... during the entire 2nd surgery.. he was THE most concerned, dedicated and understanding doctor. I do want to mention that the complication was NOT related to the RNY... that part was actually quite wonderful.. it just happened... but he has been caring and kind and you can tell when a physician truly cares about your well being.. he does... Even in post op visits, he continues to be kind, answers all my questions, and is truly wonderful. His aftercare instructions are specific and he expects his patients to stick with them. I would rate him very high!!! I would trust him for any further surgery in the future.
I think the Only negative thing I would have to say is in regards to the office staff.. and not them in particular, but I am having to file lots of paperwork to get FMLA and short term disability.. and it seems difficult for the office staff to communicate what they need from me in order to get everything filed properly... I would make sure that you know exactly what is needed from your employer BEFORE you need to file and what Dr. Theis's office will need... (for instance, I had to pay a $15 "filing" charge for them to send out all the paperwork... )

Since I work in the operating room with Dr Thies almost every day I was impressed by his professionalism and attention to detail during the surgery. His staff is helpful and friendly!

He is very understanding and tolerates my daily updates about what size clothes I'm wearing now and how much I weigh!! He thinks I such "a hoot"!

He tells you everything upfront and does a very comprehensive preop.

There are two other surgeons in this area
that as a nursing professional I feel I must tell everyone about.. Dr Espinal and
Dr Borhanian. They are every bit as skilled
as Dr Thies. We are truly fortunate to have 3 such skilled bariatric surgeons in this area.

My first impression of Dr.Theis was that he was wonderful. He seems well informed.
My thoughts about him have only improved with each meeting. My trust in him grows.
His office staff, especially Margaret, are wonderful and helpful.
I haven't disliked anything so far.
I would recommend him to future patients in a heart-beat ( I came to him from a recommendation.)
We have gone over after care in our office vistis, his seminar, and also in his literature he provides his patients.
The aftercare program appears very structured with a vast array of services from support groups to office vistis to appointments with the physical therapist to improve exercise routines.
Dr. Theis has addressed the risks of the surgery with me. His literature, the nutritionist and the seminar also reinforced this information.
My rating of him based on my pre-op experience is a 9 out of 10. His practice is growing VERY quickly and I think he needs more office assistance but overall I think they are wonderful.
I believe that surgical competence is important for the 2-3 hours your in surgery but bedside manner is key to a patients recovery - especially emotionally from such a major surgery and major change in life. I have heard he has both.
This is my opinion of Dr.Theis. I am one person of many that he has seen and I would recommend you form your own opinion of him after your meeting.
For me this has been a postive experience so far.
