I had Gastric Bypass surgery in October 2016. Dr. Waggoner was wonderful. In the beginning, I was a little worried about what to expect. He made me feel comfortable. The operation and post surgery went smoothly. So smoothly, I forgot about my three month check up. I had zero problems, but called the office with questions quite a bit after surgery. His staff was always friendly and helpful. If I needed to soeavk with him, he would return my call. I feel blessed to have found him. My life is wonderful, I have no regrets, and am 80 pounds lighter.
Wow what an amazing change in my life Dr. Waggoner saved me. I was type 2 diabetic, heart problems, thyroid, sleep apenea. I was always sick and throwing up and tired and he took me and got me approved, and we did this operation and it was a life saver. I'm back to being a person again. I am back working, no more type 2 diabetes complications, no more heart meds, no more sleep apenea. I feel amazing and that's because I was blessed to meet this wonderful DR who not only cares about others but honestly wants to help them with their obesity problems. I am no longer insulin dependent and he worked with my insurance to get me approved so I was the first AETNA Texas Medicaid to get the surgery and his office staff helped so much and the rest of the bariatric staff I couldn't have been blessed more by meeting these amazing group of people had I tried. I'm seriously amazed everyday with the changes in myself and they still email and want to hear from me it's not like some of the others who just finish with ya and throw ya to the curb. I'm down from 384 to 198 as of today and my surgery was 04/25/2012. THANK YOU GOD and Dr. Waggoner for believing in me enough to give me another chance at LIFE!
My first impression of Dr. Waggoner was that he actualy cared about me. I haven't changed my opinion of him to date. His staff very helpful but I think a little short when it comes to questions. I ask alot of questions and feel unsafe when ill prepared for something but they just respond with just keep doing what your doing. I liked the fact that he didn't want to set you up to fail like some of the doctors I've met and believe me with my insurance search boy did I meet alot. I haven't had my surgery yet but I feel good about doing it with Dr. Waggoner and that's what is most important to me. I will let you know if he earns his last star after I have my surgery but if you're looking for a doctor who's there for you when all else have slammed the door due to money issues he's the one to call. Dr Jaon Balette and his team are fantastic, i have nothing but great things to say about him and his nurses. Also Jan Penn the bariatric surgery coordinator at St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital was amazing. Dr Balette is a neat surgeon, very attentive and caring with his patients. After the surgery I felt great and prepared to take on what was ahead for me. Dr Balette and his team make sure you are well informed and prepared for your life after the surgery. If i could i would give him and his staff 10 stars.
UPDATE:
I needed to have my gallbladder removed in late 2015, and Dr Balette was my go to doc. Over the years after my surgery I have really grown to respect and trust this man's abilities.

Dr. Balette performed the Vertical Gastric Sleeve in December 2010 and I couldn't have asked for a better physician. He is a very skilled surgeon. He also repaired a hiatal hernia that was found on the diagnostic endoscopy during the procedure and removed my gallbladder as planned since it was confirmed I had gallstones. He takes all the time you need during your office visits. When you attend the information meeting at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, he will explain all the procedures and all the statistic needed to weigh the pros and cons of all the different procedures that are right for YOU! Take charge of your health and well-being and check him out. I can't say enough good things about him. I've lost 63 pounds and look forward to losing more and then decide where my happy place is as far as my weight and well-being. VGS is the best tool ever plus the support I receive from Sparkpeople.com, my friends and my surgeon! Thanks!
Amazing! Just Amazing! He has a wonderful bedside manner. Very professional. When I first met Dr. Balette I was like wow, he is really nice and he listens.My impression never changed because I knew I was in good hands I mean I really trusted him with my life. His staff is equally amazing, his nurse Cheryl is a god-sent she helped with every question I had. I would honestly recommend him to everyone. I am glad I had surgery with him,he makes himself available for questions and concerns at all times. The after-care program is definitely easy to understand and easy to stick to. Before, during, and after he explained everything and made sure I knew what I was getting into.I gave him 5 stars because he definitely deserves it. He goes above and beyond for his patients!
My first impression of Dr. Balette was "Wow, what a kind, person." I met Dr. Balette at the hospital where I work, St Luke's The Woodlands. He came up to check on his patient that was admitted to our unit. His patient care and bed side manner is top notch, and he treated the nursing staff wonderfully as well.
When I looked into WLS I was pleased to find that he did the procedures that I was interested in. He is very knowledgeable and caring. His office staff is also great. I didn't have to wait long to be seen, and his nurse always took my calls immediately or called me back with in an hour. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor!
I am very pleased with my surgeon as well as my surgery results. After having the lap band procedure done Jan 30th 2008. I would say that Dr. Balette is the best surgeon I know. Dr. Balette is a personal physician that really cares about his patients and their well being. He showed me that when I had a problem with my restriction and he came to his office on a Sunday morning at 8am just to readjust my band. He is really great and I would recommend him to anyone.
My surgeon is Dr. Jason Balette at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, The Woodlands, TX. This is a fairly new program, but I knew I was in very capable hands. So much so that I was perfectly comfortable with being the first RNY performed at that facility. Let me start by saying from the first meeting I knew that this was the surgeon for me. He is a very compassionate and caring person, and never have I felt rushed at any visit. His seminar was very informative and gives information on both the LapBand and RNY procedures. I was already working with another surgeon preparing for LapBand surgery, but I was so glad that I went to Dr. Balette's seminar. Not only did I leave there with some great information, but also I found that RNY was a better option for me personally. Though I will say that there was not pressure from Dr. Balette in either direction. He gives you the information and will answer any question you have to help you make the right INFORMED decision that is best for you. He took time going over the consents with me and making sure I new everything I could expect and all the risks for the procedure. The office staff are all amazing! I always feel my calls are important and are handled very promptly. His nurse and assistants have always answered my concerns quickly and let me know that my needs are important to them. I have enjoyed sharing my progress with all of them and sometimes I wonder who gets more excited by my progress....me or them? :) This whole experience has been great, and Dr. Balette has been there every step of the way. Although there were times I felt I might be having too many questions are concerns, he has always been there to answer them and not once have I ever felt that a single concern was not important to him. I feel that this surgery has not only changed my life, but more importantly SAVED my life. I cannot believe the energy level I have and how great I feel! Things have changed so much for my family, and I can now enjoy life with my two young children. I feel that I have Dr. Balette to thank for that and could not have picked a better surgeon!
I met the doctor at a seminar he gave on weight loss. He was young, able to answer my questions in English not medicalize. After the seminar I spoke with the bariartric coordnitor at the hospital and liked her. rnI made an appointment with the Dr's office and think Michelle is the best. I have an appointment with them on Monday, on Wednesday Michelle (same week) called to tell me she faxed my paperwork. I had approval the same week, on Friday. Date was set for the following month and I am 1 month post op.rnI have seen my doctor only once since surgery but have an appointment (my first fill) the Monday after Thanksgiving. I would let this doctor operate on me anytime.
