Dr. Schneiderrnrnwas great. He was sympathetic and he listened. He didn't judge and assess me negatively. He had been about the third doctor I had seen and all the others were not understanding and not as caring. When Dr. Schneider speaks and takes care of you he really cares and is very involved in your welfare.rn-

Very kind and informative. He also listens to you and answers any questions you would have. Soft speaking and can calm you down with his tone of voice and body language if you're nervous.rnrnThe staff is great, they're very nice and talkative if you want to get into small talk with them.rnrnHe is very kind and understanding. The surgery has been a compleye success and I haven't had any complications whatsoever.rnrnIt didn't take long to go from our first meeting to having the surgery done at all.

I really like him. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my chest because I was so nerves. Dr. Schneider is very soft spoken and very very nice, just like the others on OH have said. My consult was suppose to be about an hour but we talked for almost two! He also read all my medical information before coming in to talk to me, which I appreciate. I felt like he took his time to really get to know me and was more than happy to answer all of my questions and my moms (regardless of how "silly"). His office is not the most stylish, if that what your looking for. That is not the most important thing to me, his qualifications are amazing he graduated from Harvard med school and is on the Board of Directors for San Mateo County. He is very up front about the surgery, the risks, the benefits. He explained that surgery is just a tool but I was going to really have to work. He also made sure that I knew all the life long changes I was going to have to make. I would rate him a 10 personally I thought he is great. We will have to see, my next follow-up is in Feb.

I liked Dr. Schneider immediatley, and like him more as I continue this process. The only thing that I questioned was his office. It is older and a few pictures on the wall appeared to be crooked. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I expected an upscale office, and got middle of the road. After spending time with him and his staff, I decided his decor wasn't what I was after, and I was in good hands.
His staff is extremely helpful and responsive.
I can't think of anything I didn't like about my doctor.
If anyone chooses to see Dr Schneider, they should know that he is down to earth, takes his time, believes in quality, not quantitiy, and is available.
Dr Schneider does have a structured aftercare program, and he is very available to answer any and all of your questions. Up until my last visit prior to surgery, and the morning of surgery, he told me I could change my mind.
I would give him a great rating in all areas.

I liked Dr. Schneider very much. I would highly recommeded him. He explained the risks of the surgery very well. Goes over the aftercare program with you, he is excellent what more can I say. If you want a good caring doctor go see Dr. Schneder.

My Primary Care Physician had recommended another doctor at first who turned me down because of my age. I was just over the border for diabetis, had a full gall bladder and slight hypertension. Other than the above, I was very healthy and 2 1/2 yrs ago had come through a total hip replacement with flying colors. I'm a very young 62 yr old grandmother.

Became discouraged when I was rejected by a noted doctor in our area but then was referred to Dr. Tobin Schneider. We met and I immediately liked his style and surgical experience. We talked for quite a long time on my initial appointment and he concluded if I met all of his criteria, there was no reason age should be a factor for me. I'm a very young 62 yr old grandmother!

My surgery was May 5, 2003 and I came through surgery with flying colors! Dr. Schneider believes in open surgery and have not had any complications. I'm doing water aroebics 3 times a week and walking in between. My loss is gradual and once fully healed, I believe it will pick up a bit, especially with more exercise. As of June 16, 2003 I have lost 30 lbs! My January weight was 320, surgery weight 300 and today 270.

Like him a lot, detailed oriented.

His office staff was on the ball and keep me informed
every step of the way.

Dr Schneider made sure I knew the risk of the surgery.

Overall I would say I have a good feeling about him and his staff.

Kind. Careful. Smart. Efficient. On time. My impressions haven't changed at all and my surgery was set up on three weeks notice (but I already had approval through another Dr. I decided against.) His office staff also very pleasant, accurate and efficient. I never waited for an appointment. There is nothing I don't like about him and I am so relieved I found him.
He does other procedures lap but the gastric bypass rny he only does open. I was not sorry. I went in Friday the 12th, was out Monday the 15th of July and was back at work partime the 22nd of July and full time at three weeks out. (Granted that I am self-employed and my work does not involve much physical movement.) I had no pain med after the first 36 hours and none when I got home (and I live alone and was fine but had prepared ahead.) I am now at 4 weeks and eating everything except raw veggies albeit in small quantities, small bites and well chewed. No problems with fruit or anything else. These results cannot be guaranteed but I feel very fortunate. He strongly emphasized the risks and the aftercare and was very conservative about what I'd be able to eat and when I'd be able to eat it. I'd rate him top notch in all respects. A GREAT plus.

Dr. Tobin Schneider of San Mateo, CA has literally saved my life! He is calm, precise and so easy to talk to. He completely explained the surgery to me prior to my May 31st lifetime change. His staff is courteous and makes you feel very special! I would recommend him to ANYONE considering this surgery. His aftercare has been tremendous. He is quiet, but very kind and caring. I would rate him A #1!!!!!

Dr. Schneider is a very knowledgable doctor that took the time to talk to me. He instantly made me feel at ease about the whole proceedure, as did his staff. He explained risk and benefit very well.

My biggest concern right now is that Dr. Schneider only does his RNYs open method instead of laproscopic. This may be just my concern about pain, recovery, etc., or maybe I have pre-conceived notions that all RNYs should be done lap.

He said the reason why he does open RNYs is so that he can actually see what he is doing. I guess it makes sense.

Overall I feel very comfortable putting my trust in Dr. Schneider.
