Todd Heniford, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
Dr. Heniford was my surgeon for my lap RNY. My first impression of Dr. Heniford was, "Wow, he's handsome!" After that I gathered that he was very smart and intelligent because he didn't come in telling me the real deal. He wanted to know exactly where I was coming from and whether I understood what I was wanting to have done. Then he went further into detail and explained the surgery by drawing a detailed picture of the surgery. He told me all the risks involved with the surgery and then reassured me that he has never lost a patient to this type of surgery which made me fell even better. Plus my PCP recommended me to him which was another reassuring factor. He also stated that he didn't have an aftercare support group as other surgeons do, but he still does follow-ups on patients whom he gives the surgery to. The reason for this was because even after surgery everything else would still be left up for the patient. Success is totally depended upon the individual. Overall, I would rate him and his staff (RNs), Carla and Harriet, on a scale from 1 to 10 as a 10 which is the best. Carla handled the insurance and everything as far as scheduling pre-op tests. When I called Carla, she always called the same day. I would recommend anyone to them. I am very pleased!
My first impression of Dr. Heniford was excellent. He is a no nonsense, serious, thorough surgeon with a heart to boot. His assistant, Carla Curby was wonderful as well. She had to put up with my daily calls, my tears, my fears, etc.
Dr. Heniford was quite thorough about the risks and benefits of surgery. I had a relative with me who is a well known surgeon and so Dr. Heniford may have been even more graphic in his description of my surgery.
I feel safe and confident that Dr. Heniford will do a great job on me.
First meeting: Dr Todd Heniford was very nice but very straight forward (which I liked). Reviewed all the risks associated with any major surgery, made no promises--weight lost after surgery was still up to me. His office nurse, Carla was just wonderful and her follow thru with setting up appts for pre op tests was great. She was also very knowledgeable about my BCBS and what they required to appove surgery. The only drawback is that he does not have any aftercare programs. But my primary MD has a partner that does bariatric medicine and will be starting a post op support group along with the psychologist that I saw for my psych eval and a nutritionist.
